the texture doesnt look good, but how does it FEEL?
i mean, thats they way the texture is, but ive heard that its only the look

 

The texture on the Thugger I got is noticeably worse than on the other PWSF things I've received. It is not typical from what I can tell. PWSF usually looks and feels far better than it does on that Thugger.

On the things I've designed that I've received in PWSF, after washing and dyeing, you can see the plastic sparkle and there's a grain to it, but it doesn't look cheap. It feels really smooth and nice.

Apparently Shapeways has been suffering a slight, but noticeable loss in quality over the Christmas rush, which is a shame. However, I would not be surprised if the fact that Thuggers come on sprues affects the polishing process, either. They may not be willing to put it in as long as other things in an effort to avoid the "helicopter" effect and keep the sprue from coming apart in the machine.

The alternative to using a sprue, however, is risking a small part getting lost in the printing process.

EDIT: By the way, Ariel, your Voyager Sentinel Prime blade won't work on the actual figure without modification. The bottom of his fist tapers down so it's not a straight 5mm hole all the way through.

Nice pictures, and nice dye job, they look much better than if Shapeways did it themselves. Almost looks like candy yuum.
You hit the nail on the head...The sprue are really too weak for them to survive the polishing process, and I'm quite surprised Shapeways didn't outright ban all my models from WSFP.

For the surface quality, I would say WSFP looks much better for larger models, as you have more surface area for the sparkle to reveal itself. For things as small as Thuggers, the polishing process is kinda superfluous really. My own samples look just like yours, kinda 'rounded' and blurry looking. The face barely had any detail.

Barry's hands I would do, soon, since the lack of a hand is an injustice to the figure I can't live down. It's on the list, coming out in a couple months.

Does Jazz ever have a sword? (Besides the one they shown in the concept art and was the sniper rifle for the deluxe figure.)

I haven't gotten a Soundwave yet  
But designing shoes that transform into guns would be hilarious.

I did movie accurate OP hands because there is a demand for it and OP is a badass. I can also do movie accurate Starscream hands but it's not high priority now.

Oooh. I didn't know that...I tried my sample of the swords on all my other figures and they work perfectly. So I take it that he can hold one sword halfway but he's unable to hold the 2 swords combined? Help me with this...is it possible to dremel a 5mm hole all the way through his fist without harming it's appearance?

No he didn't. Jazz kicked the launcher off with his left foot. Ratchet used a cutting disk to slice off Brawl's left forearm.
Jazz has never had a sword appear in the movie.

Agreed regarding Barry's missing left hand. My favorite mold of the character would be made that much better having two hands for sure. =) Sweet, and again, take your time, fakebusker, we all (well, most of us anyway) know you have a lot on your plate as it is, and these Shapeways projects are just for fun, after all.

As for Jazz, huh, now that you mention it, I don't think he ever had one outside of the promo art. XD

As for Soundwave, yeah, as a Japan (maybe Asia too?) released figure thus far, he's pretty pricey and somewhat of a pain to get, but the local Toys'R'Us in my neck of the woods in Japan had at least 6 or 7 of him on the shelves so slowly but surely he's starting to see some circulation. Haha, footwear that turn into guns, that wouldn't be the strangest thing to happen given that HA Laserbeak turns into a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher for Soundwave and a weapons platform for evil Patrick Dempsey. XD

About Voyager Sentinel Prime, I think you could dremel a 5mm hold through the bottom of his hand without hurting the appearance too much. His pinky finger would end up being destroyed, since it partially covers the bottom of the fist hole, but from most angles that shouldn't be visible.

I've just checked my local toy haunts. Nope, no Soundwave in sight  
IT WILL BE FUNNY (read: hilarious) if the 'shoes' transform into movie versions of Frenzy and Rumble that are scaled to HA humans. Kinda fits with the whole 'stomper shoe' theme. I know we already have a HA Frenzy, but we can always fit in a backstory. Like Frenzy's head got reattached to a new, more powerful body or something like that.

Damn it, now you got me unduly excited about this!

Yeah...I was just looking at my V Sentinel and I estimate we just need to shave off about 0.5mm from the little finger for it to work. Or I can design new hands for him (sigh.)

Do you mean the "DOTM Dreads upgrade set"? Why yes, it's for the deluxe Crankcase figure.

More information. Currently this set in planning is supposed to replace his forearms and hands (I hate his soft, flimsy hands) and I'm also thinking of a possible dreadlock solution printable in Shapeways. In the end this set can be used to either upgrade your Crankcase, or convert him to Crowbar.

I'm still experimenting on the dreads, that's why it's "middle priority". Thanks for asking!
