About Laserbeak: The difference is in how much mass there is between it and the others. It's supposed to be a sleek spy, not an armored war minion. I think if you put some time into detailing it and giving it more head and leg articulation it will be fine.

^ You chose the material. WSF is very strong, though more brittle than ABS. At the size of the Soundwave minions, you have more to worry about the printing being imperfect than the strength of the material.

Hmm...not really...Strong Flexible is actually more flexible than Hasbro ABS, but it's less strong and hard. That is why you can make living hinges out of WSF.

For the designs we come up on Shapeways, Strong Flexible is usually enough; the only disadvantage is the surface quality.

Agreed with Yuyu though, there has been a lot of variance in Shapeways printing quality lately, and at the scale of the Thuggers that matters a lot.

but theres the dyed strong and flexible, they cost more but at least there are some color options, including black, gray, blue, and red
and then there's the white strong and flexible POLISHED (yes, only white) but at least it has a better surface quality but of course it costs more
and the polished looks better in detail terms(not as much as white, black, transparent detail and ultra detail but its something)but these are weak in small scales and costs more too
but at least there are options
and if you really want something strong, and detailed, but small, just go and order it in stainless steel, but it will cost you MUCH and i dont know if hinges will work
    XD

    Alright! One more request done!

Finally, a pair of hands that is designed specially for HA Bumblebee! That little guy finally gets to have 2 proper hands! Not only is he as posable as the rest of my hand designs, I made the mounting mechanism work in such a way that his Right arm cannon is still functional. You'll just need to fold his wrist section outwards and swivel the cannon into place.

Caveat: I will be getting a sample in a couple of weeks to test the mounting mechanism. Also, I suspect you guys have to shave down the back of the right car seat to accommodate the hand in alt mode. So no, the hands won't be made public yet.

Also, this is the fastest I ever did a pair of hands. 2.5 days. Wooot

Really? I've noticed that it tends to snap where Hasbro's ABS would stress. Maybe prestress it's more flexible, but once you push it past its limit it'll break.

What do you mean by "living hinge?" I've never heard that term before.

I call upon the power of the wiki: Living hinge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Polyamide, or nylon which is what WSF is made up of, is a particularly popular choice for living hinge applications as well as other packaging forms because of its resilience.

OH. Have you made a living hinge through Shapeways before? Did it last a while?

Nope, but I've seen and touched some samples at a fair before, but not enough to know how effective the material is. It's best not to mess with living hinges for action figures though, that's my opinion.

Although back to the conversation, PA's flexibility lends itself really well to ball joints.

I got a Thugger in last night. Very impressive, though I had to scrub the parts for a while before I could get all the sls powder out of the detailing.

I spent an hour dyeing the parts, which was a pain because I kept losing them in the black dye. Then I went and buffed up the loose balljoints with superglue. I have him on my shelf at home standing on one foot.

Some accessories for HA Jazz (sword) and Barricade (left hand) would be great! I have both figures and the additions would be welcomed. I also picked up HA Soundwave last night in Japan and while he's neat, his legs do leave something to be desired. I dunno, maybe some custom "shoes" might be in order to beef up his legs and give him some height like in this sig picture custom:

Perhaps the new feet could transform into stealth mode weapon bits while in alt mode so they still serve a use outside of bot mode (or maybe combine into something like with fakebusker's Deluxe Starscrem's boosters/nullray cannon design). Just throwing out more ideas onto fakebusker's (already huge XD) pile o' ideas.

maybe, just store in vehicle mode, it has enough free space because of the human alliance gimmic, that nobody cares about, so it could be an option

It took me 10 minutes to dye the pieces. I am very pleased with this little guy.
