I saw your pm dude, and thanks for your support! I'm sure you will make them look amazing!

Remember Frosted Ultra Detail is fragile, so use warm water to soften them when assembly.

Sidenote though: Too bad we didn't meet up in botcon2011, or I could have given you a pair for free! Heard you were too busy fooling around

The problem is to create a hand that can hold onto it's handle be it a normal shotgun grip or a 5mm peg. It will be weird trying to mount a shotgun on his forearm mechtech port anyway.

The hands are tough to do as there is no way to easily replace the current hands besides knocking the pin out. Also, I'm not sure how big can the new hand be in that tiny space fitting in the alt mode.
How about using the mechtech port oh his arm and making it a Parts former in a way, where you just clip on the new arm/hand peice fold the old hand back and he has a larger more accurate hand and arm?

I would like for the swords and shield to combine and store neatly somewhere in alt mode though. Maybe stack up above the existing mechtech cannon or somewhere along the sides of the vehicle.

This is an awesome start. However, I maybe too busy to get down to this bad boy until a few weeks later, you have to be patient guys. How many of you own a voyager SP anyway? I thought everyone will go straight for the Leader.
Sounds awesome! And yeah, I figured you'd be busy, and I'm a pretty patient guy. I prefer the voyager of the leader, not really a fan of it.

Yeah you probably should practice a bit before modding that MP Starscream. Do show us some pictures on the boards of your progress!

Do you have an airbrush? Personally I like to decant these Krylon cans and shoot the paint from the airbrush. Much more control and less wastage from overspray. Just throwing it out there...
Very cool! Can't wait to see the results of the sample pegged in! Oh, yeah, I just spray painted those bits silver, including a (originally black) metal Gundam gatling gun ammo belt chain for his right arm. It looks really nice all dressed up in metallic silver, and matches up nicely to the Masterpiece version of the Starscream mold!

I had thought about painting his null ray missiles a military green with yellow stripes like most have done, but the silver really works nicely by itself too. I'll have to think about it. XD I don't have an airbrush yet but have been thinking about getting one. They sell some Testors air compressors at the local mall where I'm at, but strangely no airbrushes to go with it. There is a Korean hobby store that sells some so I might go check that out (I'm currently overseas in Korea).

I'm not quite as confident yet in my modding abilities, so I'm taking little baby steps before going all in. But the Dremel 300 kit I do like quite a bit and have used it to successfully mod some DOTM Deluxe mechtech weapons for the Thundercracker figure.

Thanks for the advice, fakebusker, and I really will take your words into consideration! I'll also post up pictures of my MP Starscream customization project, but probably wait until the FansWantIt boosters/nullray-fins/buzzsaw add-on kit is finally released (not to mention your Leader SS hands) to have a complete movie Screamer. XD

I know there's a lot of interest in a Meg shotgun (and by extension a voyager Sentinel Prime shield and sword) since these are weapons in the movie conveniently left out in the toys.

My only issue is that his spindly hands will have a tough time holding it. I can also design it to have a 5mm mechtech peg but it will look kinda weird sticking off his forearm.

Another idea is to design new hands for him, or as an earlier poster has suggested, strap-on (hm.) posable hands mounted on his forearm ports while folding his original hands in. Both methods have their own pros and cons, and I'm still mulling over the execution.

After all being said, if you guys don't mind the awkwardness of him placing his shotgun on his forearm, I can design the shotgun with a mechtech peg anyway, and let you guys do as you please with it. Other characters can use it too!

EDIT: This also will work out as I can still use the time to solve his hand problem. That (and his overly small head) are the 2 BIG main faults of the figure.

Hey guys, in case you didn't catch the threads on the Radicon forum, lately I was able to design posable hands for both Leader Sentinel Prime and Optimus Prime!

I was designing the hands for Sentinel first, and in the process I seek to design a maximum amount of articulation possible, and these hands sure can move! Each finger is double-jointed, and the thumbs and wrist both are on ball-joints. I've designed them in such a way that they can hold onto a 5mm peg weapon without needing the fingers to close, so they hold weapons very reliably.

They fit really nicely into alt mode as well.

And in response to the extremely favourable reaction to Sentinel Prime's hands (thanks guys.) I embarked on converting them to ROTF Optimus Prime's hands! Very similar to SP's hands, except these are designed for Optimus' wrists, and they are able to hold onto both 5mm mechtech weapons as well as his original ROTF weapons. To enable this capability I actually had to revamp the structure of the entire hand, so it's not just a 5 minute hack job. I hope you guys like it!

I have yet to receive the test print for OP's hands though, so buyer beware. However, keep me updated on any errors you guys may face in the event you did order it early.

Thanks so much!

Sounds like you have a lot of plans for your Screamers!
You should post a thread of them (both leader and deluxe) when you're done!

I didn't receive the deluxe weapons I'm afraid. Shapeways split my deliveries so I got something else. I've been waiting so anxiously for it too! Apparently I've received pictures from a buddy who has already got his!

All the best for your custom work and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Practice...

Be aware of the connections between the compressor, hoses and airbrush. Make sure they are compatible before blowing the cash.

fakebusker83: Here's an idea. How about a part extension for DOTM DX Ironhide. We have to mod it, but with an extension part, it could remedy the arm issue.
