However, as you can see with Crosshairs being in vehicle mode, i am able to do all the virtual testing in Sketchup as well. Is it as convenient as Inventor, no way. But it is accurate enough that i've not had a print go wrong yet aside from SK Index's flipping issue.

However, i am going to be enrolled into Uni sometime late January, after which i'll be able to download 3DS Max and Inventor at student prices. Since i'm off on holidays Jan-Feb (I'll still be designing, but less during that month or so), i'll have Inventor before i know it!

And LOA looks professional because Inventor's rendering is nice. That's why when i'm all done with Crosshairs' scaling issues, i'll put up the renders (these are just screenshots, the renders are like Reika's, much more pleasing to the eye).

Also, at Uni, i'm going to have two units where we'll learn Solidworks, so i can't wait for that. With Inventor and Solidworks, i should be able to get things done much more professionally (which will hopefully help with getting more replies and the like). Still, i'm quite happy with where's my designing's at, considering I'm 17 and it's letting me avoid getting a part-time job. :lol

I can download it now if i wanted, but at any time they ca request proof of being enrolled at an institution (it's in the fine print that perceeds the really long fine print, so i guess that's the not-so-fine-but-still-small-print). While i know likelihood is they won't, i don't want to break my rule when it comes to 3D modeling: I do everything legitimately, on legitimate software. Plus, it's only a month's wait now, so no point rushing things.

Plus, for the time being, I don't need it. This project and my next will both work in Sketchup, i'm sure.

Well, i guess you now have to do anything i tell you, as i can send the screenshot of you admitting you're not enrolled, to Autodesk, any time i want. :ev:

Nah just kidding bro, i wouldn't...

    ...or would i?

    :lolol

EDIT: On a brighter note, the 85 percent size version is only $62, so once i get some things fixed up, it should be ready to print. :)  I'll get some scale shots with Pinpointer as well.

Nah, if it was Fakebusker i'd try, you don't count as competition yet. ;)  :lol

Congrats at deleting your own posts. Don't see why you had to, though. Nothing incriminating in there, Yuyu. Barring the Autodesk stuff.

Anyways, i have Crosshairs uploaded to Shapeways now, final cost will be $68 for him. Not as cheap as i would've like, but it's as small as i dare make it. The walls are thin as it is.

You are saying I said something incriminating? Moi?

    :lolol

Anyway, now begins the long wait.

Honestly, i'm wondering who's the teenager at this point...it's been a long time since i've seen such internet pranks.

I've managed to shrink Crosshairs down to 85% with Pinpointer, which actually might worsen the problem. Due to the increased weight on Pinpointerd relative to Crosshairs, the relative torque is increased. I'm hoping it stills rolls fine.

You could always make a small square of stainless steel to strap into the front of the vehicle. If it's small enough it wouldn't cost much. Might be worth looking into since you're under budget at this point.

And my good sir, I do not prank. I shenanigan.

Already over budget at $68. I was looking at ~$60.

I don't think it'll will be necessary, though. Worst comes to worst, i can always move the rear wheels further back.

That's true. They could act as outward heel spurs.

Sadly, to move the wheels back means to move them higher up the leg. However, the missile batteries are positioned so he won't topple over in robot mode. :)

Oh, oh, I see. I was imagining the legs doing something else. My bad.

Size has been finalised, here's the finished model in Sketchup. I'll be rendering it tomorrow, this is just a basic picture for now. Personally, i think it's quite a nice size for the two of them.

Crosshairs will stand about 11cm tall, so a bit smaller than a Deluxe but larger than a Scout.

Very nice and clean. I like how you made those slots to let the plastic move out of the way for the beginning of the cup.

I am curious about those tiny elbow balljoints. Do you think they will hold?

Heh, they're strong. That's why you'll note that the socket is built differently top and bottom. The bottom one is just to hold, but doesn't support much weight. The top on holds really strongly, and is designed to support weight. That's to allow easy assembly (plug the joint into the lower socket first, then use that as leverage to get it into the upper socket), while maintaining posability and the ability to hold a (relatively) heavy accessory like Pinpointer.

Also, the ball joints aren't that small. They're the same size as Pinpointer's shoulder joints, so they'll hold a good amount of weight.

Oh, and before I forget I'm almost half way through my next Animated design. I'll be bringing Sideswipe out of Movie-verse, and into a slick new Animated body! :)
