One quick thought: could you thicken the hole on the pistol so that both of the cannons could combine with it, making it a bigger rifle?

Do you think you could poke holes in those cannons so they can peg onto Bruticus' back? They'd be perfect then, as I could do away with the stock cannon entirely, which I need to do because it's got enough stress marks that I'm afraid to use it much anymore. (and that leaves the hole in the hinge gun free for me to do something a bit more creative, ehehehehe, Mikunator haz plaaaanz...)

Cool! I would recommend the set if you like Combiners, on it's own Onslaught, well I think there is a need for this upgrade set, but then again I love huge weapons and a million and one guns...

    Thanks for the suggestion astrakhan.

Currently the hinge blaster is only ~5mm wide, while the Twin Cannons each use 9mm handles. To make the hinge blaster hold each gun, there would need to be at least 5mm per gun plus 1mm extra. That would be 11mm, more than twice the current thickness, which would look rather ridiculous.

I think that being able to add one gun to the Hinge Blaster is going to be both useful and more aesthetically pleasing.

I'll definitely be looking to get my print of this kit as soon as possible. As always I do need encouragement to make sure I don't sit around thinking instead of buying, so thanks Wazdakka! :)

To be honest Tomiku, I was actually banking on the fact that the green shell gun (that attaches to Bruticus' back) has two 5mm peg holes, so the upgrade kit's Twin Cannons would use that to attach to Bruticus.

While I agree that ditching the green gun completely would be nice, my prints in Shapeways make me think that even a Shapeways piece would be stressed just like the existing gun. Sure, the fact the current gun uses hexagonal connectors for cylindrical pins doesn't help, but the connection just places too much stress of the plastic, even for Shapeways.

Just out of interest, what did you have planned for the hinge blaster? Because the Twin Cannons are attached to the hinge pieces, not to the green piece in vehicle mode. So it is not necessary to keep the green piece around, even if you want to use the Twin Cannons. The only use for the green shell gun is for Bruticus now. :)

Well, the stress marks on mine's gun are only on the holes used to peg onto his arms in vehicle mode, which these wouldn't use; there's a separate set of four holes (two circular, two rectangular) used to peg onto Bruticus and those are fine on mine.

As for the plans... My Bruticus is the G2 version. The box art portrays him with the original G2 Bruticus' rifle rather than the new one's combined cannon thing and it looks awesome, and I just so happen to have that rifle from a knockoff, so I was gonna sand the handle to a standard 5mm and have that plug into the hinge gun.

I think that's pretty much standard for the gun. Everyone's review I've read has mentioned that those two peg holes get stressed. Mine's already at the point where I don't want to use that gun on the arm anymore.

However, the two circular and two rectangular pegs for Bruticus show absolutely no signs of wear, so for the time being I see no benefit in making those holes on the Twin Cannons, nor do I believe the Twin Cannons would hold securely (with only two pegs each, I think there's a good chance they'll just fall off if they replaced the green gun entirely). For that reason, I'll keep the Twin Cannons as they are.

I do wish I had that rifle, though, as I agree it looks better than the combined gun. I'd love to see pics of it on FOC Onslaught one day. :)

A few quick updates before I head off to bed.

    1) FOC Onslaught Upgrade Kit has had a few minor detail modifications and more parts have been hollowed. No major changes to functionality. Aesthetics have been minimally affected.

    2) I've ordered the FOC Onslaught Upgrade Kit, "Kriza" Snipe-Copter, Avasor - Breacher Flipsword and Valipha - Breacher Cannon! There's also a Black Friday Shapeways special going on. Use the code v9v7r for FREE Shipping or the code tdzmu for 20% off orders above $75!!!

Obviously, there'll be two wings in the final kit. I am also planning to include a 'nosecone' piece which will be the robot's new blaster.

Stay tuned, and as always comments and criticisms are welcome and mildly appreciated. :thumb

On the FOC Onslaught upgrade kit, do the cannons fit on the combiner pegs Onslaught has or are they just modeled to look it?

    Hi Warpshard,

The FOC Onslaught Upgrade Kit's Twin Cannons have the ability to attach to the Combiner pegs of Onslaught using the socket sculpted into the Cannons. The socket was created with the intention of allowing the cannons to peg onto Onslaught's shoulders (using the existing combiner peg on the front 'wheel') in Robot mode, somewhat imitating the original Onslaught's silhouette (of having two large cannons).

Thanks Warpshard! :)  I can't wait to see this on my Vehicon too (I tracked down a third one just for Ailon!). Sadly it couldn't be out into my Black Friday order, so it'll be in the next order.

Also, note to self: use names which Autocorrect cannot decipher! :lol  Who knew Autocorrect would confuse Ailon for aileron....?

Thanks Thunderthruster. I just can't decide what to do with the remaining weapons (especially now that I have both the original thick weapon and the new bladed one) from the Vehicons. Of course....could always ask my Swindle for some help unloading them... :lol

Start? Really Ranger? Bit late to the party, no? ;)  I should start too, I've only got 3! That's hardly an army! :lol

Sorry to hear it Ranger. If it helps, I've never seen a Deluxe one here either, just a load of Wave 1 Prime figures (and the same Primus-forsaken flood of Legion Bumblebees!).

Also, for those who've been holding off on Shapeways purchases, mtheyre having another Free Shipping offer. Just enter the code k714m at the checkout (in Step 3: Confirmation) to get free shipping anywhere in the world!

Thanks WuLongTi. Shouldn't be long now until Ailon gets here, I managed to order it and Aevira using Cyber Monday's free shipping deal.

Not sure if it's still on, due to time difference, but for anyone who's buying from Shapeways, might be worth it to try the code k714m to see if it still works. If it does, free shipping!
