Haha, yeah, that was the picture i was going off of. I was really intrigued by the driller, as it really looked cool and i love combat robotics so any vehicle with a large melee weapon tacked onto it is a good thing in my books.

The reason i made the Zirca Upgrade Kit instead of a jet based on is twofold. Firstly, the vehicle mode for the "Jet" Vehicon looks more like a car with wings to me. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the wheels can't be removed, so the smooth sides of the Jet Vehicon would have been an issue (else we'd end up with a jet with car wheels which would look slightly ridiculous).

EDIT: The Jet Vehicon's rear fins would be an issue as well, as you need to actually chop off the spoiler. I wanted to keep my kit completely mod-free and reversible.

It's been a while since i posted my last Cartridge Robot, but since i got Ravager in the mail a few days ago, I just had to make more.

    Cartridge Robot Beast

When you need proof that big things do actually come in small packages, you call Cartridge Robot Beast. The heavy-hitter of the Cartridge Robots, twin shoulder-mounted cannons augment Beast's powerful physique. Whether he's blasting away at foes from a distance, or up close smashing your face in, Beast is all about hitting hard every time

Of course, a diminutive stature does have its drawbacks. Beast isn't too quick on his feet, and distance running isn't what he was built for. Thankfully, he can quickly fold up into Cartridge mode for Soundwave to take him wherever he needs to be.

Now that's awesome. I assume that this cartridge design is for the Cybertron Soundwave/Soundblaster, right? Too bad, I don't have those figures. Still a great design.

Thanks daimchoc. Indeed these are made for Cybertron Soundwave (or Universe Blaster), to follow on from Cartridge Robot FR and Ejector/Rewinder. I'll be posting Ravager shortly.

If you can make this for WFC Soundwave, these'll sell like hotcakes. Question, do you happen to have some weapons pack for G.I.Joes and the likes? Or Would it be possible to make some arrows for 6inch Movie Hawkeye? Just wondering. Thanks (even if you don't have plans to do it).

Oh! here's a suggestion for the beast, you can probably make it a part of a weapon... Say a shoulder cannon or part of a hammer.

Thanks a lot Ryoku, i'm glad it's paying off (or so it seems). I spent far longer on Beast than i ever would have thought possible (seriously, if i'd known designing took this long, i would have chosen a different hobby! :lolol ), but it looks like it was worth it. :thumb

    My level of detail?

    *looks in a mirror*

Hmmm...i look about the same...i don't see any more details on my face...except an extra few dots...

:lol  Thanks Megatron31. Always good to hear from ya. I'm actually very surprised at the responses Beast has garnered, as i was questioning myself before i released it, thinking "is this too cluttered?". Guess the answer is no. :)

Hammer? I think Fakebusker would sue me for being too similar to her Seismus design! :lol

Indeed i believe Beast does have an artillery mode not too different from the spider (?) drones from Star Wars, in that it's sort of like a cannon on legs. I'll see about getting some pics of that tomorrow. :)  It's not meant for direct interaction with Soundwave, but rather it should be about the right size for Cartridge Robot FR (and by extension, Cartridge Robots Ejector and Rewinder) to use.

    -----------------------------------------------------

Anyways, i just got started on something today, which i've always wanted to make since i started designing. I bought a copy of Dengeki Hobby ages ago and inside were pics of Gundam Artemie, which i'd always wanted a model of (never got released... :(  ). While resin kits are available, resin is a pain to work with according to professional Gunpla builders, so i figured a Shapeways version would be far easier for me.

Here's what i've got so far, and attached to this post is a picture of Artemie i found from the web.

    Honeycomb Conversion Kit Update!

As i said before, i'm working on a conversion for HG 1/144 GN Archer into Gundam Artemie, which i'm affectionately calling the Honeycomb Conversion Kit. I spent all of this morning working on it and i've finally got the connector piece for the pack worked out. It's such a pain trying to work on something based on art, the lengths take so long to get right. Anyways, most of the detail of Artemie has been moulded into the Honeycomb's piece, barring the text which would require decals. I've moving on to the backpack next, and the kneecaps, wrists, gun and head will follow after that. I'm dreading the head at this point. :lol  The Honeycomb Conversion Kit will be mod free aside from the kneecaps (you need to cut the fins off of Archer's legs first), as all the parts will be designed to use Archer's existing framework.

Anyway, here's the bee's 'abdomen' completed. It just slides onto the clip that normally would attach Archer's huge backpack.

Thanks noideaforaname. I'm glad Zirca has its fans. I bought a second Vehicon myself for that kit! :lol

    Honeycomb Conversion Kit Update: Backpack!

Almost there. I just got through with making the backpack, which attaches to GN Archer in place of the existing cockpit. The backpack is made in 7 pieces, and is built with joints to allow the wings to be posed. The backpack connector (the lone black piece with a red triangle) is the part which connects directly to Archer. Afterwards, the yellow parts form into the backpack, clamping the dark gray parts between them. This clamp forms a ball joint, allowing the gray parts to rotate, and the parts which attach to the wings are attached via pegs so they can be swiveled too.

There will need to be pegs attached to allow the wings to connect, which i'll add when i have the wings done. :)

^Why, absolutely nothing. Rather, it's a Conversion Kit for a Gundam, which I'll be putting up on Shapeways. Basically i found out there was never a kit released, but i really wanted a model of it. So, i'm making one myself. That, and it's good practice. Trust me, when i get to the head, one of two things could happen:

    A) My new method works and I'm happy and my head designs improve by miles, or

    B) Everything fails and i scream in anger and smash something to pieces.

    I'm hoping for option A. :)

    Honeycomb Conversion Kit Half-Update: Wings

This is a current Wing mock-up. Tomorrow i'll change the lower two Bits to resemble Artemie's design, i just got the top two finished and wanted to see what it would look like with 4 Bits aligned as 'wings'.

I'll post again tomorrow when i have the lower two Bits sculpted as Artemie's design calls for. They'll have the black joint at the bottom removed, of course. Just wanted to show what i had so far. :)

    Honeycomb Conversion Kit Update: Wings!

Been a busy day, but i finally managed to get some free time to finish up the Wings. Just had to modify the lower wings Bits. They've now got accurate detailing to resemble Artemie's design.

And this is what it looks like with the entire backpack's parts disassembled. Hopefully it'll give some insight into the construction of the Honeycomb wings.

Hope you all like it, and i'll be moving on to the head next. That's going to be such a pain...I'm so worried! :(  :lol
