My next project: Ultra class Fusion Galvatron

I've been working on this on and off since March, and is very close to becoming a physical reality.

It all started becuase I wanted a decent Galvatron toy, as the Universe version is, shall we say... Meh.

After tralling through hundreds of images for inspiration, there was not many that I saw as the diffinitive Galvatron.
So I thought why not take all the best bits and make a fusion of all the different Galvatron images.

my main design criteria was simple, he had to be big enough to face off against classics Magnus in City Commander armour, poseable, and transform into the space cannon.


I wasnt bothered about the third mode as it's kinda redundent to turn into a lazer gun if it's to big to be held by any other figures.
(I've never been keen on the idea of mass shifting)

Minimal parts shifting. Only the cannon detatches and re attaches, which I can live with as it was on the original figure.

Here's a little insight into the design process...

These are the main pics I've been working from.
The boots, legs and crotch are based on the centre design.
The chest and torso is based more on the original animated movie design.
I chose to follow the cannon from the centre design as it's more sleek and less bulky. There's also space at the back to hold LEDs and batteries.
The head is a mix of the orginal and the IDW style with a ball joint and light pipping for the eyes.
The shoulder pads are obviously taken from the IDW design. I know some people don't like the IDW style shoulder pads but for me it was a no brainer. They make Galvatron a lot more impossing. I've also detailed the back of them with missile launchers to make the cannon mode more leathal.
Finally what was G1 Galvatrons back support leg, has been based after the IDW design to be more like a scorpion tale. This also holds the barrel in cannon mode.
I like the idea that he's more powerfull in cannon mode. (Otherwise, whats the point in transforming.)

The next stage is the colour choice, as there seems to be no one true colour for Galvatron. Blue, Purpley-Blue, Purple, Pinky-Purple?

Wanted peoples opinion on the colour.
Japanese Purple or Movie Blue?

Make both and send one to me?

I originally thought purple. But now with these examples.... I'm liking the Movie Blue better.
