Needing tweaking or whatever suits your taste, that's ok with me. He still keeps on getting better and better. *blows bubbles in her puddle state* Maybe you could do little motion videoes for him someday? Show him walking or running. That would be cool! XD
Thanks! Thanks, and I will be making a short movie starring him (alone). It's going to be a drama piece though LOL I want to play with the idea that the public is being ruthless in their treatment towards actors or celebrities in general by having Prime wander around in his home, which is an abandoned warehouse, as he cope with his loneliness due to his celebrity status. He'll be smoking (an old exhaust pipe from a vintage car... maybe), drinking, and at the end showing him all sad and finally dies from drug abuse. Though I don't really know how long it's gonna take to make this movie. It's almost unrealistic at this point since I'm just one man
Awwwwwwwww...don't let Prime die sad and lonely...he can stay at my house ...Seriously As for the movie short, that would be fantastic..and it will take some time.. but when you're ready..we will be too !!!!!!!!
So you do have plans for an animation, albeit a sad one, but one nonetheless! So, you doing it manually or mocap ?
Thank you, moreprimeland. @Optimus-wave, woa buddy, I don't even have money to hire a mocap studio. It's going to be a manual, old-style keyframe animation.
Haha, you don't actually need a mocap studio. You could use Matchmover, either the standalone program or the plugin for maya and 3dsMax.
A friend of mine tried that before, but it's a bit tricky, because you need at least 3 cameras looking at the same actor which limits your movement space. Yes, you can track all markers (though to get the best result, I reckon you need to track one marker at a time) but it still doesn't work so good. Decent, but not good. Best thing to do is shoot an actor and rotoscope his movement to get the timing right, which I might do for this project.
Well, i recently got matchmover (the standalone) and its been nice to me lol, but my computer decided to be a moron and hasnt let me work on it since. But! U need only 2 cameras and do little tweaking manually (plus its easier than manually doing everything. lol
True, true. I'll see if I can get my hands on a couple of cameras from campus and maybe use one of those matchmoving softwares on the animation faculty. Though I'm not sure that they'd allow me using their facilities since I'm not an animation student LOL For the time being, I'm much more concerned about modeling the hands. They're really tricky since there are so many concealed parts and you don't get to see much of the details in any of the promotional images and the movies
What do you mean by concealed parts? the palms? If so, there's that epic scene in the 2007 movie where he grabs sam and you can see the entirity of his palms...
No, sorry, but what I meant to say was the arms. Specifically the bicep/triceps area, the elbow area, and the part connecting the shoulder to the deltoid.
Oh...hmm, i believe the robot hero (supposed to be movie accurate) has those places. Not hi-res but maybe you can build off of that? Or if not, that new sideshow thing-ma-doo has pictures that show it and those are pretty hi-res photographs.
I have to say this is an impressive model. I have to give props to anyone who can model a Bayformers character. Half of the time I can't make heads or tails out of them, so I have no idea what I'm looking at. You've managed to figure out every moving part. That's impressive.
Are you sure about the robot heroes line? Doesn't look accurate to me though. I think I'll try and freeze frame every single shot with Optimus in it from both movies and see if I can get a glimpse of what I want or need to model from the upper arm area. And yeah, I checked the sideshow cinemaquette... And they still got some of the details wrong. The panels on the shoulders got switched, which is very obvious, then the details on his 'love handles' is pretty much not there, and there are so many flaws on that prototype that I do hope will be addressed before they start selling them. Thanks mate! When you model a character like Optimus, you'll start to see that the other robot characters from the movies are pretty easy to model (except for Devastator though) LOL
OH AHAHAHA, whoops, i meant robot replicas. XD Sorry bout that one mate! For the sideshow thinf: Oh...damn. Well then the movie itself is really your only bet. Sorry i couldnt help man.
No worries mate. Yeah, you know what, I'll take a break from modeling for a couple of weeks. I have a lot of assignments (reminds me of my bachelor years, makes me feel young and yet depressed at the same time) that requires a lot of research. So, hopefully in three weeks time, I will be able to post the finished model. And I'll use my study break to rig this guy! Cheers, Yongky
Latest Update (29/08/2010) Forgot to post the latest update Will post the final model in the next three weeks. Cheers, Yongky
Duuuuuuuuuuuuude! That shot is sweet as heck. Could you maybe upload a bigger version for some wallpaper goodness? Or perhaps do that for the Final Version. Please, thanks!
I have an archive of screen shots and behind-the-scenes CG renders from the movies. It would all be too much to attach to an email. If we could link up through Yahoo Messenger, I could send you the files in a direct stream. If you're wondering why I would conveniently have such an archive, just remember that I built this from the ground up: Version 3 - Complete - a set on Flickr
I'll make some wallpapers out of the final version when it's fully rigged. Heck, you get to decide the pose! Thanks for the kind words mate! Sweetttt!! I saw the older version of your lego Optimus man. Back then it looked great but now you made another one and it looks absolutely fantastic! Great job! No worries mate, I've got some more pics from the net. Just haven't got the time to finish modeling this guy. I'll use my study break to finish the whole thing up (modeling and rigging), which is due in another 2 weeks from now.
