Scavenger; Gentle Giant... Sorta

Scavenger is happiest when he is shoulder-deep in rubble, with no bot around to disturb him for miles. Unfortunately, Megatron's war has brought him out to a noisy, crowded little ball of mud called Earth. With the diminutive Dirt Boss barking orders in his audio-receptors constantly, Scavenger takes solace in what time alone he can find, though he often winds up caught between Dirt Boss and fellow workers Scrapper and Mixmaster in arguments.

Great job on the line and ink, looks really good. I'm not sure I like the robot mode. I think it would be cool to see the drum split in back and him have actual feet...but then again, its your baby.

I think you could take this much further. Right now his robot and vehicle modes aren't all that different. As Lord Ramulus said, you could split the drum into feet or do something more interesting with it than leaving it in essentially the same position as in vehicle mode. None-the-less, you have a really interesting beginning here. It's only too bad there weren't a whole team of Constructicons in Animated.

I had wanted to keep his transformation simple, to show him as seeing himself more like a piece of construction equipment than a robot. I guess he wound up coming out a bit too much like a piece of construction equipment.

A little bit, yeah. Maybe if you did more with the arms in robot mode or repositioned the shovel arm on his back, it would help distinguish the two forms a bit.
