The main design philosophy I had with this one is movie Matrix of Leadership. Since the Matrix and Unicron share a link (being the only thing that can defeat him) I wanted them to look similar.
And that ended up working well for scale purposes. He's actually very mechanical when you get close enough, but on a backed-out planetary scale he appears somewhat organic.
As for design elements, I wanted him to feel very alien. Very old. Kind of bug-like. I felt a planet-sized bipedal robot just wouldn't work in the movie universe. He's got a few legs that will "accordian" out and kind of wrap around planets as much as possible.
He's got a couple elements designed to reference his G1 look, including the "mouth", the horns and wings.
Anyway, comments and criticisms welcomed. |

I just kind of see him flying through space, wrapping his legs around planets and begins chomping away, absorbing the energy. |

It's very demonic looking... give it a gigantic size reference by putting a normal sun next to him... and them make Him EAT IT! Nah I'm being silly... he has to be huge! He's Unicron!
I know it's just the frontal view now but give more depth to him with a size view or even a 3/4 shot and there's more to decipher. The mouth STAYS! unh!
YES, yes, yes. Wings to wrap around worlds to eat them from all directions! He doesn't need that tail I think... unless it's somewhat a propulsion system.. through space... uhhh clear that up?
Unless you'll let that part connect the wing tips together and cage a world solidly when devouring it.
I think it's nice... very symmetrical... but this is a far off view... and it's a robot.
Great, Awesome job overall! |
