After seeing the movie I feel the need to revamp the boring Ironhide toy more show-accurately.

Here's a digibash of what I'm going to do to his head, for starters. squintier eyes and a mouthplate to replace his bullface.

His body needs to be repainted as well. i want to get rid of the horrible blue and bring out more of his details especially in the legs.

No time to plan it yet, so enjoy what i have so far and feel free to steal the idea. :thumb

Thanks to seib for the pics

I like the middle head you have up there the most but both repaint and resculpt look really good, I like it a lot

No it isn't. The bovine nose was replaced by a.. um, noseplate. He was also more than just black from head to toe.

The lunchables render is pretty accurate to the final version and I'm basing my mods n that.

So I sort of stole this idea. I had something like this in mind, and then I stumbled across this thread. And I'm new and figured the slight modifications I made to my Ironhide weren't quite enough to warrant a whole new thread when this one was just a few pages back.

Anywho, I've never modified or repainted any of my toys, but Ironhide's always been my favorite Transformer and I was sad that his face was basically just a black blob from shelf view. Obviously if you got close enough with a lot of light you could see the detail, but I wasn't going to do that.

So this was completely new to me. I got some paints that were recommended and basically just went at it. I didn't resculpt obviously but I did paint over the gold on his nose, added some Tahiti blue for eyes, and painted his lower jaw silver so that it actually shows up.

My camera doesn't handle close-ups well and the actual product does look a bit better because it's not always under that light. Either way, I can actually see his face now when I'm standing back from the shelf and I'm happy and it was my first time to ever repaint something like this.

I think I'm going to repaint his guns the same silver as his jaw next.

nice. I am going to just cut his eyes out since they're already lightpiped.
