mmmh, maybe you could have the split cockpit rotate and come down onto the chest ala classics jetfire, that way it would give his top half more width, and for the legs maybe have the uppersection rotate up higher to create sort of hip shields and widen his lower half. It'll shorten him up a bit, but make the end product look less "lanky"
Love the arm engins and the use of the wings. Very cool idea, keep us informed on how it goes.

I'd make him transform MORE like Cybertron Jetfire. It would help the end result look less spindly. AWESOME start, can't wait to see how it looks. I love the retro-stylized Iron Giant type head. Good call.

I'd absolutely love to see him completed. World War II transformers are really awesome.

One of the greatest planes of all time....
I echo using Cybertron Jetfire as a template. The four engine bomber is one helluva transformation nightmare, and Jetfire pulls it of really well.

Definitely love the B-17. It's a good idea trying to make a TF out of one.

I'll echo the SWTF comment from earlier. He reminds me of the ARC-170 in robot mode. I wonder if you could kitbash one of them for use of the robot frame at least.

Only thing I'd change is to figure out a way to get more mass into the legs.

Also it'd be nice if you could get the 'glass nose' into the chest where you can see it as opposed to up over the shoulders. Splitting it seems to work, but I fear if you split and rotate it might make the chest TOO wide. Especially with the existing leg problems.

If you can find a scale model just the right size, you could possibly even use that Sky Shadow figure in a re-shell and save yourself a lot of time. Whatever you do though, don't change the head much. It just works perfectly with that WW2 mechanized look.
