Yeah... so I'm pretty sure I thought this was a good idea when I was drunk, I definitely know I was listening to "Barracuda" by Heart when I was looking at my movie barricade fig on my desk. Since my home computer recently died I don't have any good digital editing software, but I still thought this was an interesting idea.

Bumblebee isn't the only character who can start as an old car!





A really rudimentary digibash, I know, for which I must apologize. I just thought it was an amusing concept. Couldn't do the proper lightbar, obviously, since Cyb Downshift has a vinyl top, so it's got one of those little klaxon cones on the side of the hood.

... which I now realize, because I did botmode first, I neglected to put it on him there. oh well!

 

Heh its a good concept, Downshift would make an excellent police car IMO.

Yeah but BB turned into another version of the same car he was. The Camero. It would look cool if you did the same thing for Barricade, like a 67 Mustang.

 

not a big fan of the purple knee accents.. but that just me. I was hoping for this kinda thing when I saw the title. Cool!

The best, alas, I can find is mr. generic barracuda-esque Downshift.

The purple shins stand out like a bit of a sore thumb since the rest of him is black and white, it's true.



I know I'll never REALLY try to make this, but ah well. I thought it was a neat idea, regardless. Barricade and downshift share a lot of similar structural consistency, with the roof back, hood chest, opening chest, fold down rear-of-car legs, and side-of-car arms.

 

if you made the purple on the shins a bit lighter like it is on the barricade toy then that would look good and a little bit of silver detailing and it would look good

 

I like it, and I liked the purple, appropriate to the character. Just add another bit of it somewhere on the arms or something and it'd balance out better.

 

Well, now we know why he has such long arms in the movie. It's an overreaction to not being able to reach anything back in the '70s.

 

Pretty slick  , Needs some Lights on the roof. I like it. Not bad at all.

 

It's funny you should Digi-bash Downshift! His car mold is one of my FAVORITES!

In fact I am working on a kit-bash version of Downshift! I'm make him 'Hispanic Gangsta Ghetto Ride'!

So far I redid all his silver to A shiny gold color, I kept the basic black and green color scheme. Removed the autobot logo (placing it on his arm). Repainted his key to a gold and purple color sceme. And painted his GRILL (car front grill) GOLD.


What I plan to do (as I find suitable parts):

- Add gold SPINNER hubcaps (autobot molded maybe?)
- remove the chest missle and replace with a spring loaded CHAIN (to hang low of couse!)
- add fuzzy dice and rear view mirror
- tint his windows
- add green shag carpet to the dashboard.
- Remove the top and make it a FUNCTIONING convertable cover
- airbrush a nude woman on the hood.
- add small glass particles (sparkles maybe?) to his face 'grill'


With some GREAT LUCK I will do this:

- add some TINY model motors to the wheels and a switch to make him do a 'hydrolic lift/3 wheel motion' manuver
- add a lights that blink when the wheels are jumping round
- in bot mode - when you insert key to make his chain pop out his chest - have clip of song 'Does yer chain hang low?' startup

 

If you pull all that off, I demand videos of the hydraulics and music playing action  

 

That looks weird to me because I can't picture barricade without massive arms. Good job though, I kind of want to try something similar.
