As you suggested Rattrap587, I brightened up the background on the fullcolor version.

I'm gonna have to dig at why red doesn't allow the shading to come through. This is only the fourth digital coloring I've ever done, and the first time I ever did digital inks, so I'm still sort of learning the process.
Thanks for your comments on the head itself though. I thought that actually turned out better than my previous colors by a long ways. Mostly because Rattrap587 laid out a good guide on shading in the first place. | |
