Yeah not exactly a movie design but looks freakin' cool. Probably as close as you can get to a real-life G1 looking tf though.
This is how Devastator would look in Michael Bay's world... (apologies for the crappy look, but I sketched this up in 2 minutes - and yes, I realize I mispelled Devastator... oh well.)
Haven't you noticed? most of the decepticons have extra eyes in the movie. only the toys have a single pair of eyes.
Your attempt at digging at the movie designs has produced a convincing and acceptable version of Devastator. Good job.
wasn't digging at the movie designs... I was being serious. If they put Devastator in a film, that's how they would do it. Most likely 5 bots instead of 6 (like all the other combiners) and a very eerie, skeletal look. And yes, 1 eye for each bot. Wondered if anyone would catch on. As for the purple flames.... I kid you not, there is construction going on near my work, and the bulldozer is bright orange with a few purple flames on each side... so... It'd probably happen to Big D too. Oh, and the Dumptruck would be the central body mainly coz I saw a HUGE dumptruck the other day on the freeway that was bigger than an 18 wheeler
I know what you mean, Webz, I 've seen that version of Long Haul's alt. mode to and that alone could form the additional parts of Devastor (arms, hands, head, and chest piece). Honestly, though, mass displacement, and part shifting is integral to the G1 design aesthetic for most transformers. It really is near impossible to reconcile size differences with most of them. I mean seriously, without mass displacement and parts shifting, just how the hell would Blast Off become only slightly taller than Swindle, but shorter than Onslaught?
More detailed version of my Devastator idea. What I tried to do, but it didn't come across the way I wanted, was to make the individual Constructicons look really beat up, and from different places (by having different colors of rust, etc, on them. This would hint at the individuals when merged into Devastator... Sorta worked... but ohwell. Still looks awesome... ILM can hire me anytime....
My GOD!! This picture is awesome. And they said "old" boxy designs would look stupid on screen. HAH!! And Mixmaster looks like a Kamaz mixer truck, nice touch.
