Since my old Art Thread is old and forgotten, here's a new one with improved artwork straight from GIMP. And the first piece I got is Transformers from my own personal continuity, Transformers: United. I'll start with Optimus Prime (or "Optimus", as he's known here). Plot Summary: On the brink of a planetary war, Megatron, Prince of the Decepticons, and his band of Decepticons have stolen the Prima Hilt: a relic of the Autobots that has been said to have the ability to locate the Creation Matrix, which was launched by the Autobots to keep its power out of Decepticon hands. As the 'Cons leave the planet in search of the Matrix, an Autobot exploration vessel captained by Optimus is dispatched to stop them. A fight between the Autobots and the Decepticons ends with both factions warped through a space bridge and crash landing on the planet Earth. (Sorry for the shitty plot, I had to come up with something.) (Awkward artwork is awkward. I need to get used to GIMP.) Name: Optimus Position: Captain of the Polaris Weapon(s) of choice: 2x Energon Tomohawks Vehicle Mode: Toyota Tacoma Voice Actor: Roger Craig Smith Optimus "Prime" is the Captain of the Polaris, an Autobot exploration vessel sent out by Sentinel Dominus, Leader of the Autobots, to search for new, habitable worlds in the event that a catastrophic war kills Cybertron. A rather restrained, stoic bot, Optimus only has two things on his processor: Bring Megatron and the Decepticons to justice, and prevent lives, whether it be Autobot or human, from being lost, even if he dies doing one or both.
I really like the different design and colours. Especially the head shape, if that makes any sense. I'd be interested in seeing more designs in this style.
Black and red are certainly different from the usual Optimus colours. I like that he looks like a more stoic version of Animated Optimus.
Don't worry! Character development will keep him from being a grump forever! (That is if I could actually write.) Also, the color scheme was based mostly off of the red and black "Galaxy Force" Optimus Prime redeco from the Cybertron line. Also, and I've said this before, but GIMP makes my artwork look awkward. I've only just downloaded it (so I don't have to upload from my camera or 3DS), so it's just me. Maybe when I do Megatron I'll have a better grip on it.
Damn, this looks great! I like the use of a more non-conventional vehicle for Optimus, while also still be a truck of sorts And I agree, black and red look good on him
It's late, so I'm not doing any art on GIMP until tomorrow, but I do have a sketch of Megatron just waiting to get finalized. Here: And, because I feel it's necessary, here's Optimus' Energon Tomahawk:
I really like him. The style sort of reminds me of Josh Burcham, and the design is sort of like Animated Marauder Megatron. Awesome job. I can't wait to see it finalized.
Love the Megatron design. Very sleek and crisp. And Optimus' tomahawk is pretty cool too. Good detail.
Here's Megatron: Name: Megatron Position: Prince of the Decepticons Weapon(s) of choice: 2x Fusion Cannons Vehicle Mode: Double-Barreled Battle Tank Voice Actor: Jamieson Price Tyrannical, smug, and all around evil, Megatron took his band of loyal Decepticons to raid the Iacon Hall of Records and have stolen the ancient Prima's Hilt to track down the Matrix. A battle between his Decepticons and those pesky Autobots have stranded them on Earth, with Prima's Hilt in the Autobots' possession. He will have that hilt and Matrix in his possession, and he will enjoy wiping out those Autobots as reaches closer towards his goal. Especially that blight of a bot Optimus.
Alright, here's the next design. I present Chromia. WIP, since she still needs to be colored and have a written bio. The face on her right is her with her "sunglasses" on. Get it? Because she's a cop? Also, this is probably the most detailed design I did, but that's probably because I actually paid attention to the vehicle parts this time.
Oh this stuff looks cool as heck. What a lovely Chromia! Liking the knife sheaths and the bumper knees, very smooth, very silky, very nice!
Thanks! Love your art, BTW. It's so creative. I'll have a colored version of her with a bio up by tomorrow.
