Bride of Frankenstein('s monster)! ________________ You'd think it'd be more common, given both Death and flies/maggots are tied to corpses. One of these days I'm going to have to play that game to get all those references...
Awesome! Good to see an interpretation of Cthulhu that's not just the big-green man with an Octopus for a head...
Today it's the Gorgon: (if you're curious, I've drawn the "proper" Gorgons before: Medusa, Euryale, and Stheno) _____________ I do quite like the classic Cthulhu look, but it is a bit tame for the story needs and compared to some of Lovecraft's other mind-festers. R'lyeh, the Color out of Space, even Cthulhu's name* challenge you to imagine the unimaginable... but then Cthulhu himself is perfectly explicable. (* if memory serves, you're supposed to growl or bark part of it)
"Look at me, I mean, really! Barf, barf, barf! I'm a clown head, a noose, and a mummy! Ohohoho cripe, I'm a mishmash!" Basically, I'm canonizing all those wonderfully bizarre decorations, hybridized costumes, one-shot gags, lesser frankensteins, and all the other monsters that are, sadly, discarded just as quickly as they were created. Incidentally, the one holding the ghost is based on an actual decoration. And yes, the quote is (paraphrased) from The Brave Little Toaster, which is perhaps my all-time favorite film.
It creeps And leaps And glides And slides across the floor Right through the door And all around the wall A splotch, a blotch Be careful of the Blob!
