What's funny is the current price is still too much, IMO, and it's half of what he originally listed for.
Lest we forget the tagline he has - it's a "once in a lifetime opportunity" - cuz, you know, nobody bought these when they came out.
And the best is the answer he gives to a question: "...I put a lot of love into building this set..." No, you put a lot of money into a collection and are now hoping to get that money back. Ain't gonna happen. Death Metal - making moms ask "WTF does that say?" since 1983. My G1 Collection

Ain't gonna happen. | I disagree with you deathstorm. To split up a set removes the profit potential of the lot as a whole. No collector i know wants to be stuck with half of a collection they cant sell let alone cut into their profits like that. thats simple business.
if 6k is too much, how much do you think it would cost to actually build the same set? i know the japanese exclusives/repaints cost over a $1000 if they were split up and sold individually. then imagine shippin cost and a little pillow of profit for having them all together like this I would disagree and say that 6k is a fair starting negotiation point.
If youve seen another complete movie set to buy id agree that its not a once of a lifetime chance. Unfortunately i have never seen one this complete listed or know of anyone willing to even sell their complete collection. (myself included). if they wanted to get what they put into it back, which is prolly close to 4k, i dont see how thats not possible especially for a long term investment like this that would increase dramatically in value over the next 10 years, especially if one was to have them all graded. it seems as tho they dont want to get taken advantage of either hence why the price might seem a "little" high, but not unreasonable.
I believe the seller did put a lot of love into this set. who buys TF to have them graded and get poor quality? I know i go to different stores and look thru them all and get the best quality for my collection and i would consider that love. |

I had all of the RID, Armada, Cybertron, Energon, e-hobby exclusives, and Classics - they just wouldn't sell as a whole or even in half sets.
I split them up into lots of 3-4 figs with one being common and the rest desirable. They all sold in a matter of months. Nobody wants an entire line when they own half of it already. The price on this is too high and, even though the seller is finally starting to realize he isn't going to get what he paid for these, it's still an auction that's probably going to end badly. If the seller spent less than 5,000 to complete the set and have them graded he would have less than 10,000 into the set. THEN split them up and sell each AFA graded one on average of 125 a piece and viola!
140*125=17,500-10,000(cost)= a 7,500 profit!!!!!!!
Thats just my 2 cents.
Later this week I will be posting some items up for sale on ebay from my Masterpiece Collection and some AFA graded Movie Collection items with no reserve! Please check it out! |
