I'd buy a KO AFA'd figure if it was cheap enough, purely because the fact that it is mis-graded makes it appealing on some perverse level. if exclusivity/rarity gives these toys value, being one of only a handful of misgraded toys has it's... charms.
ok hard to tell by the photos, you really have to look at it. Still i would not mind a ko as long as i know I am buying a KO.
TRANSFORMERS G1 FRENZY & LASERBEAK AFA 80 LAZERBEAK - eBay (item 130340684241 end time Nov-05-09 17:00:04 PST) here is what the seller sent me... it is graded by AFA. They are the toy authority, not me. I have to go by what they say. Besides, this toy was graded before the knockoffs were produced in 2005. So I hope you have a great day. Thanks, Terry
LOL!!!!! First the seller said "I bought this a week ago from a very reputable Transformers dealer" NOW he is saying "I got this graded 4 years ago"....
It looks like this now belongs here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-ebay/217210-more-scams-ebay.html .....As the seller knows this item is a KO.
TRANSFORMERS G1 FRENZY & LASERBEAK AFA 80 LAZERBEAK - eBay (item 130340684241 end time Nov-05-09 17:00:04 PST) hey guys help me report this scarmmer. I have zero respect for people that ripped off others. This guy knows that this is a fake and he trying to pass it off as the real thing. I hope hes not a member on this board. He is disrespecting hobby
Check this out for $499 only, you too can have a frenzy/laserbeak "re-issue" *cough* KO *cough* Transformers G1 Reissue Frenzy(Red) & Laserbeak(Black) - eBay (item 390131262798 end time Jan-13-10 02:47:47 PST) Only while stock lasts...................lol
reissue is the accepted double-entendre for KO toys on ebay, since you can't sell KOs. i have no qualms about buying KO toys as long as i know they're KO - hasbro call their reissues encores and describing them as a 'reissue' should be enough to tip off a savvy buyer without adding the text "CLOSE THIS AUCTION PLZ EBAY" to the top in big red letters. 4713 feedback and 99.5% positive - i'm actually wondering if this guy ment to put it up for $49.99 and spaz handed it.
Check HIGHENDTFS.COM | A fellow board member, Mightgaine, has put together an excellent website comparing real to KO.
I don't accept scammers using the word re-issue to sell KOs. Aside from the fact that sellers on ebay lie about KOs being re-issues, the reason ebay doesn't allow KOs to be sold is because they are illegal. In this auction, the seller clearly lies by stating that, "It is the Original Product(Not Fake)". If it was in fact real, the seller would not sell it for $49.99!
Immaculate condition does not = KO. This KO only received an AFA 80 grade. Anything that I post in this thread is a true KO. MG's KO guide is the best reference available.
don't get me wrong - i'm not defending scammers - they're thieving scum. pure and simple. but there is still a thick grey area when it comes to KO toys. i like being able to buy them, i don't like being tricked into buying them. i didn't see the "It is the Original Product(Not Fake)" bit, was that there originally? i'd just assumed it was the usual kinda nudge-nudge-wink-wink reissue auction with the wrong price on it.
It's black and white to me. KOs are illegal to sell on ebay. If somebody wants to buy a KO, there are plenty of websites outside of ebay to buy them. These websites normally let the buyers know that they are buying KOs. That's another reason they shouldn't be allowed on ebay, because sellers try to trick buyers. Yes, it was there originally. It's the usual scammer seller trying to screw over an unsuspecting buyer!
