Anyway, here's a pic. I apologize for the excessive photoshopping... I took a few really bad sloppy pics of my altered Bumblebee, and played with the colours and slapped a new head on it to show you what I mean.
I used the Energon Arcee head because the pic was handy, but obviously the real head is way too small.
zmog | OMG I WANNA DO THIS WITH MINE!!!
Do you have a tut on how to do all of this? Pleaseeee?!?!!? |

Oh, and I wiped out the background (my cluttered computer desk).
I used my BB 78 Camaro for the base in that image... I've already modded it so the waist swivels (making the legs backwards), and did some chopping on the feet to allow them to bend around backwards into the shape you see there. So that's a legitimate pose right there... no digital trickery.
It also requires trimming off all the gears in the leg automorph feature so you can make it work, but don't worry, it doesn't affect the transformation or tightness of the joints, it just allows you to move the various parts of his legs independently.
The rest of what you see there is just transforming the figure a bit differently.
OH... and the head needs to be on a neck post that can telescope out of the head and allow the head to sit higher up than the normal position. Not too hard to do.
I have one step left to do on the BB mod... to make small fold-out posts (stabilizers) on the backs of the feet (there's a space for them just under the car where the "missiles" were supposed to go in car mode), because without them the bot doesn't stand up so well. As Arcee, these would end up being the "high heels" I mentioned.
It's not done yet, and I haven't worked on it in a while, so I don't remember every little step. I'd certainly like to fix the waist joint. It works at the moment, but I find it too loose (made from a Gundam model kit ball-and-socket joint), so I'd like to replace it with something a little more secure.
I had originally planned to make this mold into an old fan character I had, but I'm liking it a lot as Arcee myself. I might do this when I get around to this figure again.
Hope that helps!

The lifted chest and larger head makes a HUGE difference!
I might try my had and sculpting a head, maybe even a little more G1 in style, and raise it when i'm doing it..
Any tips on the telescoping neck? Not sure where to start for that.. |

If the neck-hole is snug enough, you should be able to slide the head up and down, and have it stay in place. I would probably use a lighter to just slightly melt the end of the neck post so it's a bit fatter at the end inside the head. That way the head wouldn't just pop right off when you extend it.
I don't have the toy in front of me right now, so I'm not sure if it would be better to find a way to have the neck post collapse into the body instead of into the head. But at least that way, you could have the head on a ball-joint for more movement.
Hey, for the head, you could always try to find a classic Princess Leia "cinnamon bun" head that's about the right size and then try to alter it to look more "tech".

| Im a bit confused by this....could you draw up a quick diagram? (do you mean like a telescopic sort of thing? I have no clue how to make those if thats the case, but it definateley needs something. Also with the front chest piece in that position shoulder articulation is extremely limited.)
BTW i just started work on mine. ^-^ I can foresee the chest always wanting to flip down into its normal position as being a bit of a pain though. |
