If you removed the spoilers and trimmed the wide end of the wings (to match the angle of the cab) It would look better. Then you could shut the tailgate.
thanks for your ideas, but I'm DEFINITELY keeping it the way it is. it was such a relief to finish it that I don't even want to take it off my shelf anymore. the crane unit is sitting on the bed. all I did with the entire landmine unit is to cut off the bottom legs (I think) and slice out a 90 degree cut in the back so it fit over the tailgate. I like the way the wings look on the sides, as if they were meant to keep stuff in the bed.

Awesome work man! I also made a Hoist a little while ago thanks to Sodawilly's custom. The only thing I would really do differently on yours is to add some orange emergency lights to the roof - it would make him look a lot more "tow-trucky".

I really wanted those lights that people had been finding at radio shack from some r/c kit, but could never find them.
