Classics Jazz - WIP (My first Repaint/Head Swap)

I've been itching to expand my Classics line, but being a Kitbashing virgin, it's made me a little aprehensive. Now, there're still going to be those Classics customs that I won't do, that I'll commission, due to complexity that I don't have talent for, but there will be those that will be so easy, there'd be no reason for me to not attempt it.

My first idea is an Autobot I've been growing more and more fond of, lately, thanks to his Alternator counterpart. Making him into a Classics figure stumped me for awhile until this morning. I noticed that Bumblebee/Cliffjumper aren't really Volkswagen Beetles, and figured I could use their mold (since so few were made in the Classics line) for other cars, that wouldn't work with Rodimus' (seeing as how there're really only 2 car molds...).

So, to see if my idea would even look decent, I did a digibash.

Swap heads with Grimlock, add a strip-styrene nose, paint & Reprolabels (I've already ordered them - too late - so, I'm hoping they'll be somewhat comparable in size), and you've got Classics Jazz:

I'm buying parts when the stores open later today, and I'll keep a running WIP photo journal for those that also think this is a cool idea, and want to know how I'm doing it.

Cool.

It's times like this, I wish Hasbro did Jazz instead of Grimlock.

I would recommend retooling the visor to be more Jazz.

Well, I can't sculpt. This way, I take out Grimmy's lightpipe, paint the eyes silver with a clear blue over it, paint the back black to match the head, and stick it back in. The nose is gonna be simple: strip-styrene epoxied to the face. Darn. Real hard.

I'm going to have to have my friend dremel the raised area on the roof smooth, the raised areas on the hood come out, and I should have no problem sticking putty in the holes to make them smooth. And, I'm removing the tailgate.

I can't sculpt, and I can barely paint, so if you want to take my idea, and make your own changes - PLEASE!! And upload plenty of pictures, I'd love to see others' representations!!

I'm pretty sure BB's head is a balljoint and Grim's isn't...

You're correct. And, it's essential for the head to tilt back for transformation.

My friend with the dremel is real handy with a drill. If he can't figure out a way to make it work, then it can't be done!

That's really good, but for a moment I thought someone would finally repaint Cyb Crosswise into classics Jazz.
