1. As has been said here before, art is very much a matter of personal taste. There are artists - who have worked for Marvel UK, IDW, Dreamwave and any other publisher over the years - whose work I and many others love, and who many others equally dislike but that doesn't mean that one artist is "better" than another. Artists and colourists all have their own styles and just because someone doesn't like a particular style it doesn't mean that others won't.

2. Titan's Transformers Prime comic is still going and is doing quite well at the moment. Every couple of years Titan have pressed the reset button on the comic but they've been in continuous print since 2007.

3. I won't go into details of how much it actually costs to run an event like Auto Assembly, but it's a LOT more than you probably realise and our comic guests take up only a small fraction of our overall budget. I certainly wouldn't consider that tickets for Auto Assembly are expensive considering the fact that we are offering a three day event with free workshops, no charges for autographs, a massive package of gifts for all our attendees and everything included in the price. I've been going to conventions for almost 25 years and running events myself for just as long and I can say hand on heart that you won't find many like Auto Assembly anywhere else and certainly not with the same price / guest / activity ratio.

4. Also, and I can't remember if this was mentioned in the announcement, but Sam's appearance has been sponsored by Big D's Toy Chest so his appearance at the convention has cost us nothing. If you're not interested in talking to him, or getting any sketches, that's fine but we hope that he will still be treated with the same courtesy as our other guests.

5. With regards to Sam being a "one-shot wonder". As we have said, September's issue is Sam's Transformers comic debut but every artist and colourist has had to start somewhere. Simon Williams, who has become a hit with our attendees over the years and has had work published with IDW, Titan as well as producing artwork for SFX and Metrodome (not forgetting being responsible for bringing Death's Head back with Simon Furman) started out as a fan and his first break was doing basic head shots for DVD boxes.
Sorry dude, I'm not dissing the ticket price, you do get a lot for it and IMHO I'd pay more if it meant getting another comic guy or girl in there from the old days or one of the other IDW guys because where else would we get to meet them?!

I thought Simon was already professionally published before being a guest but I don't remember. It just seems weird, I don't remember any AA or any other con I can think of with a guest that didn't have something published. Not trying to be mean to the guy but it just doesnt look as good as the other stuff, and I've defended Jeff's print. There's taste and talent. Compare the MTMTE page on the site to the one published and 1/2 the detail is lost to black. He might be wicked in a couple of years, but I guess by one shot I mean there's a load of guys who've worked on books once (which is lot of Titan artists up until I stopped reading it cos the aartists kept changing) who aren't guests or guys that have done loads like Etherington who aren't there.

I'm still gonna turn up and have a laugh and do some shopping, and its still one of the best cons I go to almost every year) but I don't think its wrong to state an opinion. Not gonna be rude to the guy but these are forums where everyone gets to have an opinion on the art of the books, the toys, etc. As a fan I feed back, not trying to start anything, but when I say it I'm saying it as fan of the show. Its up to you what you do but people are gonna have opinions on it.

Just going to answer that one, but BotCon's artists alley has a lot of non-professional artists there, TFCon has non-professional artists having a presence there, Slag-A-Con does, Savcon does... the list could go on and on. We're probably the last one to actually do this!

I feel your pain my friend, i feel your pain. I've been restraining myself from buying prime toys on the internet for the past few weeks in preperation for AA. Though i did cave briefly and order Knock-Out and Airachnid. Hoping to find a Bulkhead with my name on it. First edition or RID, dont much care!

Cool, look out for me and the other guys, come over and say hi, we don't bite. Well, except Marcus...

I think Toyzandgamez will have Airachnid, you can probably find a good stock of the others from them or from one of the other dealers there that does current stuff. Don't pay over the odds on Airachnid though, she's not that great, very limited poseability.

Less than a week to go, BOOYAH!

haha, good to know!

Actually i have Airachnid already, and you are right, but i knew that buying her thanks to Peaugh's rather venemous review! But i bought her for the character rather than the toy itself. If anything i would say the poseability is the least of the problems, there's a serious balance issue going on.

Bigger, better venue.

Bigger, better turnout.

Bigger, better convention.

Simon says he has to cap it at 1000 attendees, so I say we try damn hard to hit that number.

We've got a year to convert as many people as possible to our geeky/nerdy ways and convince them that the best place to spend the first weekend of august next year is:

AUTO ASSEMBLY 2012!!!

I'm going, are you?
