I have recently noticed more and more members from the Pittsburgh area through the Pennsylvania sightings thread. Are there ever meets? Hang-outs? Or at least a 'Burgh clique or something? On other forums I frequent, the people from a similar area tend to gravitate towards each other. One forum in particular - we had meets on a semi-regular basis just to hang out. Eventually our meets turned into much more than that with everyone helping on a common goal. (In this case, it was a car forum and we all did custom work on someone's ride) Anyway, long story short, these people turned into friends and are now part of my life outside of the internet. We have even been to each other's weddings and holiday parties. Now I don't expect to have a meet and everyone become BFFs and live happily ever after. But it would be nice to put some faces to the names I read here. Even meeting up once goes a long way towards knowing someone. So who here is from Pittsburgh? Or more specifically, the area around Pittsburgh? I live a bit north of the city. What do you collect/read/watch? Would you be interested in a meet? It could be a comic shop, Dave and Busters, Toys R Us... Just throwin' out ideas... -John
I'm a little far away, but not too far...Mt Davis, about a half hour south of the Flight 93 crash site. I'd be all up ons for a meet-up with other fans!
Well if there is enough interest I wouldn't mind taking the reigns and setting something up. Depending on who is interested we could find a central location. Although, if it turns out you're the odd-man out (by distance I mean...) then you may have a hike ahead of you. Although, in the past I've known people to drive 5 or 6 hours for a good, established forum meet-up. Thanks. I am aware of that forum section. In fact, I searched through it even! I considered posting this particular thread there - but this is merely gauging interest in a possible meet. If the mods disagree I won't mind it being moved. But my intentions are to get the ball rolling here and then making an official meet thread in the other section if we get that far.
resurrecting an old thread, but add another one from Pittsburgh here. Anyone planning on going to Steel City Con in July? We're looking at it and wondering if it's a good show for TFs.
I was thinking about going. I haven't been to a convention in Pittsburgh for like 15 years though. I see more comic-related material on their website and facebook postings. I wouldn't go there thinking it would be any type of gold mine for TFs. If anyone is going, which day do you think you'd go? I'm always up to meet some fellow fans. I'm not looking for a gold mine, but they advertise that they're a big toy show. It's still a little early for me to nail down times, but I would at least go on Saturday.
In their photo gallery from previous years there is a table of Barbie dolls. I'd say that means its open to a wide audience. Saturday is the day I'd prefer to go as well. I'm marking it in my calendar and unless something major comes up or the wife throws a fit (not likely, we went to Botcon for our honeymoon) I'll be there.
