All, For anyone who is in Southern California, or specifically San Diego, there will be a toy show from 10am - 5pm on Saturday, May 30th at the Country Inn & Suites, 5975 Lusk Blvd, San Diego. It's free to attend. I've never been before, but I met the guys who put this on at the Free Comic Day Event at Southern California Comics this past weekend. That was a fun outdoor event, with a decent number of vendors. I'm thinking of checking this out. Here is a facebook page for "Toy Stars," they are the guys putting this on. https://www.facebook.com/toystarscollectibles I know there are some San Diego folks here at TFW, but we don't have much of an official presence: we are sometimes considered the little sibling of the Los Angeles area. It would be great to have some events and meetups for San Diego collectors. This could be a good event to meet folks and do some deals.
A quick reminder about this local toy show coming up this Saturday. The organizers informed me that vendor spots have sold out. There will also be some toy car racing, and some contests. The organizers are putting together a Transformers diorama as well. Sounds pretty cool, hope to see folks there!
Awesome, it will be great to meet some local TFW folks, looking forward to it! I'll have a vendor spot with some friends, I will have some Transformers stuff, a mix of G1, 3p, and some exclusives. My friends will have some GI Joe and Star Wars.
I'll try to make it out with the family as well, it'd be great to meet some of you folks. What time you guys all going?
I will be there early for setup, I think it opens to the public around 10? People could probably come earlier too. I will play it by ear but should be there at least until 2pm. Those with small kids may find it easier to come in the morning. I will try to set up a portable DVD player with stuff for kids to watch as well. I'll be the tall asian dude with a transformers t-shirt.
Hey everybody. I bought a table as well, and I will be there pretty early to set up. I just spent 3 hr pricing and packing stuff (@_@ why am I still up?) anyways, come by and say hi. I'll be there with a TF theme shirt as well, cept I'l be the shorter chubbier Asian dude.
It was great to meet everyone today! I think I met everyone who has posted on this thread. Today was a good time. Hopefully we can do more of these get togethers. The next big local event will probably be SDCC (gasp!). Maybe I will see some of you there?
I created a TFW group for us San Diego collectors and invited everyone who posted in this thread. I figure this is worth a try, we can stay in touch and share the passion we have for this hobby. We can also help each other out, I have found that the fandom can be really great when we help each other.
On behalf of Toy Stars Collectibles we thank all of you who showed up and took the time to chat with us. My personal apologies for not mentioning our event on this board, or responding to this thread sooner, but a very special thanks to eighties kid for spreading the word here on TFAM. My day job and some family obligations had me a bit caught up this month and I was fortunate enough to be back in state on time to make the show with the other Toy Stars members. Expect another show around November from our group. With SDCC around the corner we felt it appropriate to allow some time for financial recovery from SDCC (ours and yours) before doing another show. Please let us know what you enjoyed and what you'd like to see more of at our shows. Our mission is to grow the San Diego Collectors community into something that could allow us to grow the venue and increase the frequency of these sort of events. Nice to have met everyone there. I will be at SDCC, but only have a pass for Thursday and Sunday though. we could totally pick place near by, have dinner hang out etc. during SDCC.
