IDW is better, but I miss their colorists and inkers. I liked the bolt, metallic look of the G1 onging in particular.

IDW's colorists like pastels far too much. Even early IDW work by Don (Stormbringer), that pencil wise was identical to what the G1 ongoing had, was muted by very flat or pastel coloring jobs.

So yeah. Not missed, except for what their books looked like.

I wouldn't mind to see their G1 ongoings continued, or at least finished.

Same here, they were really building it up before it got abruptly cancelled.

In my weaker moments It's abrupt ending plays on my mind wondering what unicron and megatron wanted with earth but mostly I'm just happy with the current comic renaissance . Even the ruined4ever reaction from some of the g1 purists has added to its appeal for me.

Part of me does. They had some talent, the fact that so many of them have gone on to other projects post-dreamwave are a sign of that, and they were, at least in the beginning, a bunch of fans who made it big. I liked some of the stranger series they were willing to try, even if a lot of them didn't turn out or even... finish, but even then I was happy to be along for the ride.

Do I want them to return, given what happened? Fuck no.

I've only read bits and pieces but based on what I've read about the stories I'm very happy Transformers moved over to IDW. I'd still like to actually read all the Dreamwave stuff but I'm happy with what we have now.

I much more prefer what we have now (MTMTE in particular) but I really enjoyed Dreamwave's G1 ongoing and would love to see a wrap up of that just to satisfy my curiosity. As the IDW books have come into their own I really don't miss DW at all.

It was okay. Then I started reading issues with Pat Lee.

    Never again....

I used to be one of its harshest critics, but the more of the MTMTE stuff we get these days, yes, I start to look back and kinda wish it had lasted longer...

I got more enjoyment looking for obscure characters in the background of DW's main G1 books than I ever got from the stories, so no, I don't miss them. The 'wow, new g1 books!' factor wore off pretty guick after the first miniseries and while what followed was a step up, I never found it a genuinely interesting take on Transformers unlike what followed from IDW.

I liked Armada under both writers, Energon and the profile books and wish IDW would have found a way to finish that rather than their godawful BW's efforts.

I loved G1 Dreamwave. The handling of Shockwave during the second storyline and even more so the ongoing series. As for the More Than Meets The Eye Bio comics............check em out, they are really awesome.

Dreamwave was pre Movies and at the time, helped keep the original G1 line alive, just long enough to bring fans like myself back. Without Dreamwave, there would be no IDW.

It served a great purpose and it's place in the history of Transformers should never be underestimated.

I think their Armada/Energon comics were better than their G1 mainline comic, and their spin offs (like Micromasters) were by and large terrible.

Their shiningg jewel though were their MTMTE profile books that they did for G1 and Armada, those really were brilliant.

This. Loved the bright colors and the focus on the main characters. IDW's stuff is too cosmic for me latley. Still buy but I felt the best story arcs are the ones set on Earth. Feel the same way about the second half of season 3 of the cartoon. Plus some of the characters they focus on are D listers.DW stories felt like they very well could have been real G1 episodes. Artwork was bright and simple. IDW has too much going on in their panels sometimes. Whoever made the comment about the pastels was spot on.

    So yea I miss them.

Side note - I got to meet Livio Ramondeli @ comicon a few years back. Didn't like his style at first but it grew on me. SUPER nice guy.

No. Pat Lee was a dipshit and a horrible employer for his workers, who was only able to get work with Rob Liefeld. If that doesn't tell you how bad he was, nothing else will.

I feel better that the artists have found work that actually pays, even the so-called "creative refund program" has turned out to be nothing.
