At some point in the IDW run, will there be total peace? Where there's no fighting off any kind, everyone doesn't feel the need to fight, no more grudges. Should this ever come to be, this could make for a good miniseries. Which features various characters, their inner demons at peace, going about their post-war lives. Optimus, Prowl, Ironhide, Ultra Magnus, Megatron, and Starscream could all have interesting stories.

    What do you think?

Why would they turn the comic into a fluff story?

There is never "total peace" in our world. Why should there be for the Transformers?

Nope. The franchise is kind of built on the pretext of war between 2 factions. When the war is over, more or less the franchises ceases to have a reason to exist.

And it's been tried already. RID season 1, IDW? No war. People found it boring.

MTMTE, season 1, IDW? No war, but it got into its own thing and delved into other categories. Still had villains.

Just a what if. I mean, what if in a decade or so they decide or have to conclude the IDW story. Might as well give it a happy ending. Just thought I'd put it out there.

No offense, but I think it's strange how often people ask questions as if this was all real. Could X beat Y? Could A do B? Is D stronger than E? Could there ever be peace?

The answer to all the questions is exactly the same: it depends on whether the authors and editorial staff (and Hasbro reps) thought it would make a compelling story. If so, they would find a way to tell the story. If not, they wouldn't. Period. Everything in the transformers universe bends to the that priority.

I think someone could absolutely write some compelling peacetime TF stories. I don't think we will ever see such comics because A) Hasbro wants the fiction to sell toys, and I do to think they would ever expect peacetime stories to sell transforming robots; and B) superhero comics are a visual medium which tends to rely on action (ie, fighting). Peacetime, character driven stories would be seen as better suited to prose rather than graphic media.

No whey. I'm glad the WAR is over, but not conflict.

There is eventually, if Ironhide's vision of the future is accurate.

Even putting aside marketing cynicism, Cybertronians have been at war since before The War began. From an in-universe POV, it's not looking hopeful.

Harsh, not really a fair argument (mainstream literature has countless great stories which involve no violence whatsoever), and yet, ROTFLMAO!

There will be always conflict, because action comic books are based around conflicts.
And obviously it will be armed conflict, since toy accessories are, usually, weapons instead of farming equipment.

At best you could expect a true end of the Autobot-Decepticon hostilities only if there would be any other hostile faction to fight.

And considering IDW continuity... The only way you could end this war forever is to wipe everyone of the opposing faction. Because there always will be some fanatic field commander who refuses to give up and is waging his private war.

War of some sort kinda seems the status quo IRL, so it makes sense that the same would be the case in a fictional society we create, marketing cynicism aside.

Current state of play is great for story telling. War is over, but things are still lurking. Anything can happen, to paraphrase Fulcrum. Gives characters room to develop in ways full-on war wouldn't have given them the opportunity to. But not to the point of actually getting comfortable. Lost Light adventures wouldn't have been possible in a different set of circumstances. When Shockwave happened, quest got put on hold.

We gave peace a chance and that did nothing, let's give war a shot.

In IDW continuity, probably not. Total peace doesn't seem to be in the books anytime soon.

I would, however, enjoy a series in which the Autobots and Decepticons were never enemies (which I guess would get rid of the faction names, but maybe there'd be another reason for them?), but they still have to fight against a common foe (Quintessons?).

I actually think they could do one or two issues where we see the world of Ironhide's vision, Pax Cybertronia. Or they could do an arc of MTMTE where we see the characters in Cybertopia, each getting their dream (Rodimus is the next Prime, Megatron is a well respected leader, Cyclonus is able to lead a simple life of peace while Tailgate is a famous hero, Whirl has his hands and face restored, Chromedome lives with Rewind who wasn't killed by Overlord, Swerve and Blurr run a bar together, Ratchet is able to just relax with Orion and talk to the young bots) only for Rung to realize that something is wrong and it slowly comes together that the ship has been infected by IDW's version of the Black Mercy and all the characters must break free of their dream world... must give up that which they've longed for so they might return to the real world.

Hell, I'd write that for IDW myself... for scale too, if they'd let me.
