I am not very excited about this as in fictional appearances they often end up being personality free lumbering idiots.

As well as clarifying the science side hopefully away from the naff vague D-void side of things maybe also look at the implications combining has on the cybertronian culture as I found the dialogue between Nova prime and Omega Supreme in relation to monstructer being something to do with that till all are one phrase interesting. I would like to know what the different transformer religious groups and organisations like the functionist council thought of the practise of combiners groups.

One other point do they really have to be slow, lumbering and/or stupid? as overlord has proven that you can have both brains and brawn and still be interesting.

Hmmm, I think 'Trepidicious' would be the word I use to describe this. There's very little interest to me in just dumb brutes going at it continually. I hope that the induvidual componants get as much focus as their combined forms.

 

Please please please please please please please please please please don't encroach on James Roberts' plans for MTMTE. Please please please please please please please don't make him postpone his stories AGAIN for a big event comic. I patiently tolerated Dark Cybertron and read all the issues because 1) I knew we would go BACK to the proper stories once it's over and 2) I didn't want to be lost and confused for when MTMTE Season 2 begins.

Please please please please please please please please make this go into the RiD book or be its own thing like Autocracy...

 

I think this going to involve RiD not MTMTE.

 

It's written by Scott and Barber and involves the RID team so I don't see why it should impact on MTMTE at all.

On that note, Barber seems to be spreading himself very thin at the moment. Time to bring Roche on board for RID. (A boy can dream!)

 

They need to get Nick Roche on board with more Transformers staff.

Seriously IDW looks like it's understaffed and overworked at the moment.

 

The use of combiners has been handle poorly in the past and I am tired of seeing Monstructor and Prowlastator all the time. Superion and Menasor could help bring some freshness into both series. Assume for a moment that Slingshot was killed and AlphaBravo is the new guy that the Autobots have to use to combat the rise of Menasor, who has a new teammember to help unite the forces minds into one and Wildrider who is reformatted into Offroad. Do they accept these new members, do they mourn the lost of fallen teammates. Will the Stunticons frame the Autobots and turn the Earth against all Transformers. Will Silverbolt be willing to rejoin the Autobot ranks after striking out on their own or will he go after the one he feels is responsible for all of this..Megatron. So yeah if played right it could work out good and we could see them used as special assault groups later on down the line or develop the characters further instead of just background characters.

 

I always get concerned when Toy Companies begin really driving comic storylines. Larry Hama's stories about GI Joe are enough to make you cringe at the thought. I hope these go well.

I can only assume that it should say "running in TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE #39-41 and the new TRANSFORMERS: WINDBLADE RETURNS #1-3", because otherwise it doesn't make a lick of sense. Also six issues seems like not a lot when there's sixteen Combiner Wars Deluxes...

 

So Windblade Returns is essientially Combiner Wars. bleh.

 

I know i'll buy the combiner toys but just got into the idw comics butt... im hoping the new guys can work with the combaticon molds and we get updated versions of other g1 combiners and the option to get a prowl that combines with the construticons from hasbro/ takara tomy. The 3rd party stuff is too expensive for me.

Well in Windblade they established at least one colony world has developed/advanced into combiners of some sort with the Micromaster combiners. Perhaps an artifact from there is the key to advancing combination tech. If they connect Windblade Returns to the Combiner Wars through that route, it may not be too forced.

I find it interesting that they're actually going with the purple axe thing as part of Menasor's chestplate (as per the stock toy photos), since I'm pretty damned sure that it's designed to be the hilt of his sword...

In 2015 there will be sixteen Generations Combiner Wars Deluxe Class figures, each of which will have a comic issue packed in. Not all of them, though, it seems, will be issues from the actual Combiner Wars event, since there's ten more toys than there are event issues.
