Lol! I owe you an apology, Grindcore. Since I wait for the Comixology release to be discounted, I just now read #30. It appears your choice of words was not off, assuming Megatron is being sincere in his conversation with OP. :)

In the final issue of Transformers (#31), Ironhide said that he will defeat Megatron again if he ever return.
Seem like Megatron REALLY is playing around.

That issue also took place on Gorlam Prime, which doesn't exist anymore.

That was probably retconned/erased by Dark Cybertron.

Ironhide had a crisis of fate in Windblade because he no longer believes his vision can happen. That and a few other things, like it seem Jhiaxus didn't have the same vision, imaging Shockwave's pseudo-universe instead.

The Future isn't fixed. Our choices are our own.

Which is good. Because I hate that issue. And also the implication in RID is that a golden age for cybertron means the rest of the universe might get a wee bit...conquered.

I hope Megatron doesn't reveal "I've been using you all along!" I would lose faith in Megatron ever having fresh, interesting story arcs in the future. Seriously. It's like RID all over again. "Oh no, Megatron is taking over the planet again! What are the odds."

I think he is genuine... but he is also Megatron. He might feel that he went about the war wrong and but I also think that he thinks the old ways were wrong too.

So its less of a 'I was 100% wrong, now I will redeem myself' and more of a 'I started out with a great idea but went the wrong way... and now I am going to do things RIGHT'.

I think it is the little things, the little comments, that show this isn't all an act for him... that he does what to help others. Like he told Ratchet, he wanted to be a medic once, long ago. Megatron became the stereotype for He Who Fights Monsters: He wanted to stop tyrants and opressors and became the very thing he wanted to fight.

I do believe, 100%, that he was becoming Bumblebee's friend and that he respected the little guy. And I think Bee's death moved him greatly. but old habits are hard to break... just like Starscream is finding it hard to break from his own habits. Both have a chance to become something more, something better... but they are going to have to move past themselves.

Hmm Ravage not so much. In all honesty I think Megatron will use Ravage nose to find the missing Lost Light crew the ones before and after the launch. Ravage is in a tough situation where the Autobots have the ship and it is emergency situation. It means that Megatron realize he needs all the help he can get. It is too soon to say he is not genuine and right now Megatron is best captain despite what Rodimus thinks.

One of the things I am really enjoying about the current IDW universe is that there is an parallel right now between Starscream and Megatron. Both are being given their chance for redemption, but at the moment Starscream just keeps screwing it up whenever he can. (Killing Metalhawk, his actions during DC, his almost complete leadership failure in Windblade.) Although we have only had a few issues with it during the end of DC and MTMTE, Megatron seems to be much more successful at becoming a better bot. It will be interesting if this idea continues, since it could add a lot to the characters' eventual reunion.

It would certainly be interesting if Megatron is completely genuine. Espescially if he is succesful in his mission. He's an effective leader, and a damn fine captain (even after just, what, 3 issues?) and if he discovers Cyberutopia, i could imaging the public siding WITH him.

Starscream so far hasn't done much as leader. No real infrastructure has been set up, all he's done so far is create a police force.

Wouldn't that be an interesting situation to see?

That would be hysterical. Though I think it'd be funnier if they both failed.

Regardless of if megatron is genuine or not, it's to both of his and ravage's advantages to work together.

I think this is accurate. He's still incredibly proud and sure that he was right about the old government of Cybertron (and given what we've seen of old Cybertron, *we* know he wasn't wrong). His quest for redemption is perhaps not 100% pure, not driven by complete remorse and humility. Bit that us what makes it all the more believable and great. Turning Megatron into an angel on a fine would feel contrived and hokey.

I think Megatron is genuine, because if he's not it undermines ALL the development they did for him with the trial and everything. Now, Megatron clearly has a plan of somekind, but I doubt it's anything underhanded or treasonous.

Whether Megatron is genuine or not, the only certainty in life is that someday he'll become a Decepticon again. There will be some arc, etc that will "renew" his faith in the Decepticon cause. And the other certainty is that all of us will be buying and reading again and again ... and again.....

No, no, no, no, no, pleeeeeeeeeease, noooooooooo.

I don't mind if, in his development, he leaves the Autobots. But please no reset. If IDW megatron becomes leaders of the deceptions trying to conquer cybertron or the universe again, I'm done following the continuity.
