I've been trying to come up with an answer for the past 15 minutes, but really, is there anybody from the old G1 roster that hasn't been redefined if they showed up in MTMTE? And for the better, if I might add?

Though if I had to chose 1 character, it would be Rewind. After all, Roberts took a character who formerly existed only as a counterpoint to one of the cassette guys, and couldn't really operate on his own away from Blaster, and created a whole new character from the ground up without even removing the aspect of him turning into a form of recordable media. Instead, his character was built off of his alt. mode, since it makes perfect sense he'd actively make use of his internal database to record and replay stuff. Really, it's a shame the best he'll get for a Classics figure is the FoC Frenzy/Rumble repaint as he really deserves better.

Roberts doesn't do RID, so he doesn't have control over Arcee. Kind of a shame, since the Arcee/Whirl dynamic would be fantastic, as is anything that has a dynamic relationship with Whirl.

^This. Arcee doesn't really need to be on Earth. I know they need a token fembot but in all honesty RID is kind of the age of stupid ATM.

Earth could have been done better that for sure. So far RID shown us what Thundercracker had been doing.

Oh, I know, but I thought it wasn't fair for someone to say they dislike Arcee's IDW self when she's changed in pretty much every run. Unless they dislike her portrayal in all of them, then I take it back.

    Why?

It's very easy to dislike IDW version of Arcee.

She's cynical sadistic psycho minus Whirl's charm factor.

That's pretty consistent across all her IDW appearances.

Someone should give her Deceptibadge. Now when Jhiaxus's perma dead it'd made no difference.

The one character I'd have no problems if she was killed in a permanent way.
And I prefer to like Furman as a writer, so I'll also pretend that her spotlight never happened.

Oh, my bad. I did not notice that thread is specifically about MTME characters. Not about IDWverse. That's a projection on my side because when I think IDWverse I almost always think MTME. :D

In this regard, I have NO characters I dislike in MTME.

But just for safety, someone really should throw Megatron through the airlock. Preferably with few explosive charges attached.

Star Saber is mine. Probably the most unpopular opinion on here, but he's been built up to be this fanatic who's focus is "Primus's will" and eliminating the "heretics and inferiors" who refuse to follow HIS idea on what Primus is, but one has to wonder, what will happen when all that he's believed crumbles at his feet? Imagine his reaction when they reach Cyberutopia, find out the Knights are not what they expected, and he finds out what he was led to believe about Primus was their handiwork, not the actual will of Primus.

It would be nice if Megatron offers him redemption and a chance to change, citing that if he can, anyone can, and he takes it. That would give more dynamic to the Lost Light's crew as they try to find either the real Knights, or start off on a new quest, and give Star Saber a chance to become the hero that people expect of him through a slow and gradual process. Then we could have the fun of Star Saber trying to figure out how to do good, so he becomes the Max Damage of Transformers, thinking "this is what I did when people hated me, so I'll do the exact opposite" and cause hijinx and mistrust in the way that only MTMTE can produce.

What's great to me is a lot of these guys never had much character development to begin with. And I just love them all. Favs would be Brainstorm, Rodimus, Tailgate, Serve, WHIRL!, Chromedome, Rewind, Magnus. But geeze they're all so wonderful I hate to choose.

Come on Hasbro give us a Lost Light playset that folds out into Swerve's bar and includes '10'. Pretty please?

Cyclonus taking on Star Saber would be in the dictionary under 'Epic' you know, if they still had dictionaries.

I can't really choose either. My all time favorite character was Skids from Marvel. I still think I have G1 Skids somewhere I moved so many times it is hard. I like Skids though. I love the newest perv Getaway. I would love to see more Hound in action.

For me, it's a toss-up between Whirl, Swerve, and Tailgate.

As for Star Saber, who's been mentioned a few times, I think Star Saber should have been in the role Thunderclash ended up in. Star Saber... HERO OF THE UNIVERSE!!!!

I'm not as impressed with Roberts as many others. He's very good, but he has tried to be way too clever with UM, Rod, Drift, Trailcutter, and Tailgate. IMO, it comes across as unsubtle and ham-handed. But I do think he has done *great* work on Cyclonus and Skids. Their characters have been developed very skillfully. He's gone a bit over the top with Whirl a bit much for my taste, but overall he's done a great job expanding on his original bio and expanding on it.

I'm in the can't choose just one group as it changes from time to time, right I'm torn between swerve and brainstorm.

Its quite telling that we sadly can't say the same about the rid cast, its more like the other way around with so many awesome characters from G1 like Sky Lynx, Jazz, Prowl, Galvertron, Cup etc not getting a descent enough treatment, well yet anyway, it is early days and I'm ever hopefull

I want to say Star Saber but having seen Victory it feel like it's too big a departure. Mostly because he didn't get to DO much when he appeared. So right now I'm sort of soured on him. Maybe if we get more backstory and character development it'll make more sense to me.

    Skids and Getaway, definitely.
