Seeing is how the series More then Meets the Eye has gotten some great feedback due to how well it's written what are some of the things about it that you're not a fan of?

I'm a little iffy about the dialouge. It's not that it's bad in fact it's the opposite for me. It's too perfect and witty. A lot of the characters who talk in such a perfect witty way that it does feel like they all have the same personatly and dialouge. I know this is how some people in real life talk but the way it's presented here just makes them seem unrealstic. I'm all for wit and it works for characters like Whirl and Swerve due to their personalty but other then that the only characters I can think of right now that doens't have that are Ultra Magnus and Cyclonus.

 

The redesigns of characters. I'd prefer them to have their traditional 1980s toy or cartoon appearance.

I disagree on characters having the same personality and dialogue. They really don't. If I stopped reading for five issues (which I'm not) then asked someone to give me lines from those five issues from various main characters, I think I can identify them without being told who said those lines, based on their personality and their dialogue.

Oh, sure everyone is witty but then that is what makes it fun. RiD is the serious political story. MTMTE is a fun adventure in space focused on a bunch of mismatched cast each with their own distinct personality quirks and flaws.

 

The art when it's not done by Milne, Roche or Guido.

 

I didn't say that they have the same personalty and diolouge. I only said that the way it was done felt like it to me that's all. Perhaps it's because I have a different taste when it comes to dialouge in stories.

 

My problem with the overly witty dialogue isn't the sameness of characters, it's sometimes James goes off the handle with it and overdoes some lines to the point that become rambling and painful. SP:Trailcutter's line about how Trailbreaker decides on his new name and MTMTE 20's "please tell me that it's not my style" speech spring to mind.

 

It feels sometimes rushed. I mean somethings like details are overly emphasized to nth degree and makes the story rushed. For example Brainstorm's briefcase and his obsession with Perceptor. Then there is Skids and the gun. Roberts has yet to explain the Empyrean Suite the connection to the memories. Other than being Ultra Magnus favorite and also Tarn's.

 

Yeah, the dialogue can be a bit too witty at times, like the "Flames on my chest" line and how it doesn't work because Rodimus doesn't actually have fames on his chest now. Or how it makes the tone shifts so jarring. Happy little space adventure and then SUDDENLY GENOCIDE.

And there's that whole Minimus Ambus thing. I like Ultra Magnus being Ultra Magnus.

 

The Cold Construct and Forge concepts bother me a bit too. I do not mean just the Genocide angle but the racism stating that Forge is better than C.C. I am not to crazy how the reproduction angle is working either. It is bit confusing.

 

Grimlock being made a bitch by Tarn. Yeah, I understand that people are tired of Grimlock being a "wolverine mary sue", but come on, the guy should have at least beat up tarn and THEN be beaten by the entire DJD.

For that matter the DJD being this "uber powerful" Spec Ops tem. If I was Megatron, I would have thrown these guys at the Autobot High Command and win the war that very moment.

 

I don't care for the art much.

 

He's still Ultra Magnus. The white cab robot has just been given the name Minimus Ambus.

 

Yeah, I would rather Magnus be Magnus, not Ambus.

Pharma is starting to get on my nerves. He's getting kinda old.

The fact that Sunstreaker is on the Lost Light and, to my recollection, hasn't even spoken yet REALLY bugs me.

The art of issue 16. The most emotionally heavy issue yet. Actually made me cry.
The art was ABYSMAL. I just can't get past it. It almost ruined the issue for me. I guess as an artist, I'm more sensitive to that kind of stuff.

I guess that's about it. There's really not that much I dislike about MTMTE. It's just so good.

I love Milne's art style but I really don't like all the designs. I HATE Chromedome's shoulder pads for instance.

I really like Roberts' dialogue for the most part but sometimes characters can sound really similar since everyone stutters, everyone quips and most everyone's speech has similar flow.

And maybe things will pan out differently in future stories but I've yet to get an answer of why I should give a shit about Rung.

Some of the stories do have a big buildup then seem like a bit of a letdown...the Overlord fiasco was built up for an entire issue then it took a couple pages to resolve. And, not to harp on Rung, but one minute he was clinging to life then all of a sudden his head is rebuilt and he shows signs of life after the storytelling issue then BAM he's totally fine, up and about and going on 'shore leave'.

But in spite of all that its still incredible Transformers fiction.

 

I am also not a fan of Ultra Magnus' portrayal in the series. Another problem I have is how powerful the Phase Sixers and DJD are...seems with this many super powered transformers, The Decepticons would have won the war long ago.

Exactly! He's a very deep, interesting character, and as you said, after everything that's hapened, I can't imagine that he would just be totally SILENT about it. It would make for some interesting conversations.
I'm really digging your idea of him having a talk with Rung, too. We all know Sunny's been through hell, and he had issues to begin with. He probably needs some psychiatric help by now.

I think he would fit in just fine with the crew of the Lost Light. Besides, Sunny and Whirl together would be awesome.  

For God's sake, Roberts, at least give him a freaking cameo. A SPEAKING ONE. He's already there. Use him.

 

I was gonna say "nothing," at least nothing that really bothered me.
