Hey all, I'm going through Last stand of the Wreckers right now, and as I've only really watched the 1986 movie a few times, Other than Springer and Kup the voices are sorta impromptu random voices.

Overlord, I honestly hear him as David Kaye's Megatron, but a tad deeper and a faint scottish accent.

Impactor, I picture Scott Mcneil's Piccolo/Tiger of the Wind voice

Ironfist kinda sounds like Josh Keaton's Spider-Man, Chirpy and quickwitted.

And I honestly don't know why, but from what I've seen of Whirl. I hear D.C. Douglas's Legion from ME2, Completely different characters, and I know not every one eyed robot is Geth, but man, I just like the picture.

Does anyone else have any particular voices that come to mind when they read the characters lines?

 

I read Overlord as having the voice of Edmumd Blackadder, only with slightly more of an evil sneer to it.
Whirl in my head has the voice of Jane Lynch from Glee / Wreck it Ralph
Drift is Laurence Fishbourne.
Rodimus is as per the G1 Cartoon.
Ultra Magnus sounds just like Peter Weller (Robocop)
Swerve is Ted Danson

 

A slightly younger Jack Nicholson from Shining as Overlord.

Ron Perlman as Impactor.

Janet Montgomery as Verity.

Neil Patrick Harris as Ironfist

 

Adam Baldwin as Whirl. Either Troy Baker or Keither Sunderland as Ultra Magnus. Nathan Fillion as Rodimus. Zach Braff as Tailgate.

 

Swerve is Stephen Merchant. Tailgate is Penfold from Danger Mouse. Brainstorm is Matt Smith (Eleventh Doctor). Ratchet is Jeffrey Combs.

(Brainstorm canonically must have an English accent, so that he pronounces MAABs and MARBs the same way, but I like to think that all the characters who were newly established by Roberts for MTME have one too.)

 

Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes voice as Brainstorm.
Tom Hardy's Bane voice as Tarn.
Heath Ledger's Joker voice as Whirl.
Keith David as Overlord.

Those are all the real definite ones at the moment.

 

A lot is just voices that match, not really real peoples but just what I image they sound like.

Tarn sounds very brutal kinda like Movie Megatron but in his own voice.

I was trying to figure out who David Kaye would be in IDW...I really like his Megatron voice and the Beast Era Megatron voice (not Unicron Trilogy) would make a good fit for any of Roberts' villains. The theatrical quality plus intellectual evil is a good fit. I'd like to hear Kaye read part of Megatron's soliloquy from Chaos Theory or the 'Road to Chaos' issues - I think he'd be a good fit for IDW Megatron!

Gary Chalk might also be a good Maximus or Ultra Magnus now that I think about it...

One thing we all know...there's only one voice for Waspinator.

What about Jhiaxus? Who would voice him? I'm thinking Alec Willows (Tarantulas) or Campbell Lane (Rampage).
