Okay, so Spotlight Trailcutter was released today. What are your opinions on it?

Personally, I loved it. Good story an good art. Uunlike some of the other Spotlights released recently, this one feels like you get your money's worth. Is it better than Spotlight Megatron? I don't know - I liked this one better (it's definitely funnier), but I'm one of the few people who didn't really connect to that one's story. Maybe the way Trailbreaker
convinces Lockdown of all characters to retreat is a bit silly, since that guy doesn't look like he's a coward, especially with 20+ Cons to back him up.

A little list of things noticed, spoiler-tagged, just in case somebody accidentally stumbles into this thread before reading. :)

-YES, it's connected to Metroplex. The piece of debris that hits the Lost Light is actually a piece of Metroplex!
-The Decepticons invading are actually 'bounty hunters' lead by Lockdown - most of the crew are types of Insecticons (more on that below)! Their entire schtick is tracking down Metrotitans so their employer (probably Shockwave/Soundwave/Megatron I guess) can strip them down for parts and use them for personal goals - I guess that's how they were able to build Megatron's bomber body before.
Does this also hint at the reason why Lockdown truly was near Crystal City in the Drift miniseries (possibly a retcon)?...
-Return of the Deluxe Insecticons! - They were also part of Spotlight Thundercracker, so I guess their role in this universe has been to track the titans for a long long time...or maybe it's a hint that these might get toys in the near future, as well?...(probably the first option)
-Lugnut is part of Lockdown's crew, as one of the exceptions. Next to him is also a character that is not Blitzwing, but definitely has Animated Blitzwing's body - just a different head and different color placement. Looks a bit more feminine, even?
-Killmaster, Whirl's nemesis, can be seen in a flashback. Guy is a really grotesque looking Insecticon, or at least, that's what he looks like to me - with similar design cues to FoC Kickback, but huge. Even the colors are purple and yellow/gold.

    Thoughts?

I enjoyed it. It's always a pleasure to hang out with the crew of the Lost Light, and this was a nice story that fit it's runtime nicely. Lots of lovely little touches (Trailcutter's forcefield face in particular) helped to make everything seem more genuine. I think it's these moments that are most needed in RiD, in between all the world building. Not every scrap of information has to tie in to the plot-arc, something that Barber would do well to take onboard.

Overall, well worth the money, and makes the wait for the next MTMTE fix that much more bearable. I'm looking forward to Hoist's issue next.

    Just read it.

That was FUN. Left A smile on my face and made me want Trailbreaker more than I already did. Also WONDERFUL beautiful and expressive art. :)  :)  :)  All around.

Love seeing the two coolest looking Deluxe Insecticons get a few moments in the spotlight. (I swear one day Chop Shop will get enough spotlight to actually BE a kleptomaniac theif and Venom a super paranoid commander). Also it looked like at least one maybe more new Deluxe Insecticons. Cool. Can I ask for Spotlight: Deluxe Insecticon? With Matt on art?

-ZacWilliam, nominates this art team for every MTMTE fill-in ever.

Kamen Rider V3 con is best con!

I like the shot of Rodimus chewing out Rewind, firmly placed that issue between 5 & 6

Fun read! All of the humor in the book was top-notch, as was the art.

If anything the last third or so loses a bit of steam. Lockdown's a great villain with an interesting schtick, but getting suckered by Trailbreaker and begging for his life was a pretty low point. It would have been more interesting if they reached a stand-off, with Lockdown taking the thumb but sparing the ship. In fact there doesn't seem to be a reason for it, but he seems to have ordered his troops not to shoot the helpless Autobots. What is he, sentimental?

And the reveal is just one more frustrating Brainstorm invention that will never be mentioned again. Love the character, love what he does, but his actual inventions are the one thing in MtMtE that just drops off the radar and is never used again. KOing a whole spaceship crew is a pretty useful thing to be able to do.

Love the odd Decepticons in this issue. Not-Animated Blitzwing, Not-Lugnut, Kamen Rider, etc.

Whirl doing his facial impressions of Trailbreaker/cutter was priceless, made me laugh out loud!

That was Best Spotlight. Ever. It gets 45 Rodimus Plaques for being awesome. I'm going to buy Trailcutter (who I previously had no interest in) just to get a physical copy of this comic. All Spotlights wish they were this awesome.

I really hope IDW Lugnut eventually does something other than just being a background guy.

They're definitely building towards something important with the Titans. Curious to see what it is, and if it has anything to do with Shockwave's absence in the latest RID

I was going to just wait for Trailbreaker's toy (when does that come out again?) which comes with the issue, but it looks so good and I absolutely have to get it by itself (and also because I love the cover that the non-toy one has).

I like how it ties into Hoist's Spotlight.

What they're building towards is the Generations Metroplex coming out in the fall...

No concrete release window for the first Thrilling 30 deluxes yet, but given we've still got the FOC Wreckers wave to go in that assortment, probably September-ish.

I had assumed that Thrilling 30 Metroplex was the "biggest event" the Spotlights were ostensibly leading up to, but now we know that the TPB of the Spotlights is called 'The Transformers: Prelude', which would imply that they're leading up to something actually in the comics.

I would not be at all surprised if the Metrotitan/Metroplex plot thread ties into Shockpoint somehow.

That. Was. Awesome!!! TC bullshitting Lockdown was a bit weak, but still a great fun standalone read. Some cracking cameo's, and Whirl trying to do the forcefield face was hilarious. I agree with Anguirus though that Brainstorm has all this neat stuff, then when it cones to the crunch it gets forgotten about. Vexing.

Also, 'He turns into a giant head!' :lol

I read the brief synopsis for this on the TF Wiki. It sounds amazing.
