When you get to Dark Cybertron you need to read it all in order including the RiD parts so it helps to have read the rest but it won't ruin the other storylines in MTMTE if you don't.

 

I've been wanting to catch up on these lately and this helps tremendously. Thanks for putting in the effort to put this together!

Well after issue 22 of MTMTE and RID, that's when the next few issues of both series start having a different chapter of Dark Cybertron. For example, MTMTE 23 will be Dark Cybertron Chapter 2, and RID 23 will be Dark Cybertron Chapter 3. (Also the first and final chapters of Dark Cybertron are their own comics for some odd reason) You don't have to immediately read the first 22 issues of RID to read Dark Cybertron, but if you're confused as to what happened with Bumblebee, Prowl, the Constructicons, Arcee, that's where reading RID will help you with.

Dark Cybertron is the only event comic where MTMTE jumps over from series to series, Combiner Wars only does this with ex-RID and Windblade.

Honestly, I wasn't too keen on Dark Cybertron, maybe I need to reread it but it didn't need to go on for 12 issues. XD

 

That's what I would've preferred to do. I found it a bit annoying jumping From one to the other constantly. I thought the two stories might cross reference each other more but they didn't really so apart from dark Cybertron it doesn't make much difference whether you read them chronologically or not. Maybe read them seperatley up to dark Cybertron and see how you go from there.

 

I've never read any of the comics before. I picked up the IDW collections and this is so helpful. Thanks for putting this together.

i searched the mobile application "idw transformers" i found that"the transformers" only have 31 releases isn’t it soppusse to be 45 ?
i found the "transformers #45" but it’s catigorised under RID did both series (rid-transformes) merge entirely?

 

RiD had its name changed to simply Transformers to avoid confusion with the new cartoon and its comic book tie-in. The older book is a different book to the one formerly known as RiD.

 

That one is most likely the ongoing that was written by Mike Costa

Robots in Disguise went for 34 issues before being renamed.

i checked the app today after issue 22 of each mtmte+rid there is a small subtitle (for example mtmte 23 under it is dark cybertron #6*for example*.
does that mean i should read this particular issue of dark cybertron or is it actually is mtmte 23 ?

IDW Machete Order?

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. So I have a few friends that are not "Transformers" people, but are now very curious about MTMTE following its (and James Roberts') fully-deserved Comics Alliance nods. The problem is, I feel part of the joy of MTMTE is that is part of this larger tapestry that stretches back to -ations. However, I think saying "Just Read LSOTW, Chaos Theory, and Death of OP!" doesn't really capture that. So here is my take at a Machete Order...

I'm having a difficult time finding a simple list of intended order for the trade paperbacks from Infiltration onward. I'll go back through the thread and edit this if necessary. I'd really appreciate THAT list though. I only buy in TPB format and the order gets really out of whack really fast. Help, please. Haha!

I recently purchased a few modern comics from a Movie Stop that was closing. Just read issue 42 of one title. Man, I have no clue what is going on in that title. It's got Skids, First Aid, and a whole bunch of characters I have never heard of (with like two appearances of Rodimus and Magnus).


What kind of vibe is this writer going for? These two female bots were talking about staying friends because their culture requires them to be, the threat were "Personality Ticks" and Swerve disappeared in the end "Quantum Leap" style. Is he really doing that or is it just a joke?
