Mate, all people are trying to say is that a first-time reader would get very confused using chronological order. If you want to do a chronological read-through of IDW it should be your second time through.

They're trying to help you get the most out of the stories.

If you're really super concerned about a chronological order, here is mine:

For the most part, issues are placed based on the latest events in them, so flashback stories are positioned based on their present day framing sequences rather than the historic events.

But I repeat - if this is your first time reading IDW Transformers, DO NOT USE THIS ORDER! You will confuse and/or spoil yourself.

I'm not new to reading these I have been reading these since 07. I moved to an area that kinda stopped my comic buying for a few years I am back where I can get them again but I can't purchase on line yet and I either buy what I can find unless its at a bookstore which I read whatever they got. The more I read the more I understand different aspects of other things I have read.

I am so behind on rid and mtmte so there is no rhyme or reason 2 my reading order. I started off published but has gone off track

Jalaguy I have several questions about slang or numbered items I will only ask about a section @ a time when u break down "all hail megatron section"
Which ones r 13a 13b 14a and so forth all the way to 16b?
I'm guessing its coda but is coda trade start with 13a to 16b in SAID order
    Of front to back?

Yeah there r other sections I have questions about but I will start w AHM

Oh, right. Each of the AHM Coda issues (#13-#16) is comprised of two 11 page stories. So, say, 15a means the first story in #15 and 15b means the second story in #15.

Under the ongoing what comics or books r the ones that say
"the transformers" and then display a number after it?
Im thinking 22 and 23 are choas theory ?

I know in there is international incident revenge of the decepticons etc etc but I'm not familiar with their numbering. And I know there r more books other than what I listed. Most of the "ongoing" I usually read in trade paperback if they r at the particular bookstore I go to.

Yeah, anything labelled as 'The Transformers [number]' is an ongoing issue.

Yep I know that much but which numbers r which ongoing?

People always put a number with the ongoing but each ongoing has a name and some comics within the ongoings have yet another name. Idk the breakdown which titles r what names

IDW's done three ongoing series - the unnamed one which ran for 31 issues, referred to as just 'The Transformers', plus 'More than Meets the Eye' and 'Robots in Disguise' which are still being released.

If you're looking for the breakdown of the unnamed ongoing's storylines, it goes:

    - #1: ...For All Mankind
    - #2-6: Things Fall Apart
    - #7: All His Engines
    - #8: Scrapper
    - #9-12: International Incident
    - #13: Heart Like a Wheel
    - #14-18: Revenge of the Decepticons
    - #19-21: Space Opera
    - #22-23: Chaos Theory
    - #25, #27, #29: Police Action
    - #24, #26, #28, #30: Chaos
    - #31: Pax Cybertronia

Little bit of polish, added some more retailer links and worked Chaos Theory in, I really hope to find the time to get a full update done with the rest of the links soon.

Im also toying with a "Primer to Dark Cybertron" reading list which might come in handy as I'd imagine that story might lure in some new readers.

    Thoughts?

    Excellent work!

I do think Dark Cybertron will be another good entry point for new readers, so a reading list leading into that would be cool!

A primer for Dark Cybertron would basically amount to RID issues 6, 10, and 17-22, I'd say. Maybe throw in the recent Spotlight run too for some background on Metrotitans and to give some idea of what Rodimus and co. were up to.

Okay, I need help. I got the trades of Transformers ongoing Vol 5 and 6. The last issue of Vol 5 is 23, but the first issue of Vol 6 is 25. Where do I get issue 24?

    Volume 7: Chaos.

Starting with issue 24, the Costa ongoing went bi-monthly with the even numbered issues following Prime and Rodimus in space as they faced off against Galvatron. The odd numbered issues focused on Prowl and a small team of Autobots on earth as they rounded up Decepticon stragglers and looked into Spike's supposedly having murdered Scrapper.

For the trades, the odd numbered issues when into Volume: 6 - Police Action, and the evens went into Volume 7: Chaos.

Ah, thanks. I hadn't opened up Vol 7 yet or I might have figured that out. Would've made more sense to reverse those so that the next issue chronologically would have been the first issue in the next volume.

It'll make sense once you've finished. For the sake of the overall story, Police Action needs to come before Chaos.

Actually, it's not on list #2 at all. That's the one I'm going by. Also, while I'm asking, where do all the new spotlights go? Like the ones that come with the new deluxe toys? You have Megatron and Bumblebee on there, but I don't see Thundercracker, Hoist, Trailcutter, and whatever other ones have been released. I don't even have a list of them, let alone where to read them in the reading order. I finally read everything through Autocracy on the second list. I'm about to start Monstrosity and then into the two newest ongoings. Not sure where to put those spotlights though.
