I will not rest until I have Deluxe Rung w/ wheelbarrow Deluxe Chromdome Legends Rewind Deluxe Whirl. Voyager Whirl doesn't scale with Cyclonus and looks like crap. New Deluxe Rodimus. One that isn't as bulky. New Deluxe Ratchet. One that doesn't suck. New Deluxe Perceptor. Less bulky and with a sniper. and most importantly... Undetermined, big size class Minimus Ambus in Magnus Armour. Oh, and as of season two, I need a Megatron in his new design... ...I need one that isn't Deluxe Class. Anyone else who doesn't have a good toy, I can live without.
But being a leader class figure does? Unless that was some sort of failed dig at the Leader Megatron.
I'd want to see: Generations Voyager Brainstorm as Cyclonus Prime RID Knockout as Chromedome (it would work) The new armada megatron could become a fortress maximus with no retooling (at least I think) Roadbuster into Ultra Magnus (or somebody) The 2014 Camaro bumblebee might work as a rodimus or even drift AOE Drift could become MTMTE drift And... The Real Gear Robots video camera transformer can be pretty straightforwardly get an additional tooling for rewind: the head and claw arms of the existing figure are on the same sprue, so using an alternate tooling with a new head and more human hands can fix two birds with one stone, and That figure resembles Rewind slightly already anyway. I wonder if prowl should be a completely new tooled figure.
Generations drift is already covering drift IMO... and Rodimus deserves his own unique mold, he just looks too epic to be a repaint.
Cyberverse Hatchet repurposed into a Sparkeater? HFTD Ironhide into either Perceptor, Red alert, or Hound. Maybe even Prowl.
I desperately want a set of six for the DJD. Deluxe Kaon and Vos, voyager Tarn, ultra-class Tessarus and Helix, and a deluxe-class spark-eater. To mitigate it being a budget-buster, perhaps they could come in two seperate sets? Tarn, Kaon, and Helix, and then Vos, Tessarus, and the Spark-eater.
I just want a Rung toy. He doesn't even have to transform(maybe package his alt-mode and staff as a separate thing) but how would you even go about marketing that? "Hey Kids! Here's Rung, the Autobot Psychologist who changes into... a thing? It kinda looks like a stick... Did I mention his articulated eyebrows as a feature yet?"
I'm glad Generations (and 3rd Parties) have been giving us good representations of MTMTE characters, because god knows this comic has made me want, nay, need, updates of various characters toys. There's actually a few "classic" characters whose lack of new moulds seems kind of silly given all the 30th Anniversary stuff. I really want Cyclonus retooled from Voyager Brainstorm, I feel like my idea for interchangeable heads is the closest thing to genius I've ever had, haha. One G1 style head, one MTMTE style with horns on balljoints, both so they can fold down for transformation (if needed) and so you can easily pop one off for pre-Remain in Light accuracy. A new Deluxe Rodimus would be an easy Getaway retool, maybe even a new Drift or Red Alert. Deluxe tumbler style Chromedome would be rad. A new Ratchet would also make an easy Ironhide retool/repaint and others, Crankcase or First Aid? Leader Ultra Magnus, and if Hasbro/TT are feeling really crazy/generous work in both a "white Prime" and a Legends or Legion Minimus Ambus gimmick to keep everyone happy. Even the bio could make light of it "Some say he's really just a little bot in a suit of armour, but that's surely just a strange conspiracy theory. Isn't it?" Deluxe Rung with eyebrow articulation. Transforms into something but doesn't come with instructions, so you've got to figure it out yourself. Leader Overlord with luscious-lip action and Springer's-Ripped-Off-Face accessory. Hey, Hasbro! Great ideas, right? When do I start?
I'm all in for anything MTMTE inspired. The top of my wish list would include a Chromedome and Rewind set. Yes please...(works on adding Rung to shelf).
Build-A-Figure. It worked (sorta) for Transmutate back in the day, plus the only people who really would want Rung are the people who can put forth the effort to hunt down all the parts or know people through whom the parts can be obtained (read: anybody on this site who has at least one full combiner of any kind). Alternatively: Heavy repainting of an Ironhide Kreon. Yes, this exists. No, that doesn't work at all. Purely because Cyclonus doesn't look like Brainstorm's toy in the least. As it stands, the best version of him is the still-excellent Universe 2.0 mold, specifically the RtS "Battle in Space" redeco: (this is the Takara "Challenge at Cybertron" version, but to my knowledge this and Hasbro's "Battle in Space" are virtually identical save for the latter's rubsign and non-glossy wings) Getaway? You mean "Allspark Power" Movie Breakaway, who was a repaint of Cybertron Hot Shot...who was modeled after G1 Rodimus to begin with? That, and we already have a deluxe Rodimus from the original Classics line that, while by today's standards he's pretty lackluster in the articulation department, also looks nothing like MTMTE Getaway. And I don't see why we need a new Drift since the AHM-based one is still reasonably suitable and is a good toy. Or why Red Alert needs a new toy as well since he got the Sideswipe retool release soon after. Tumbler? As in "Batmobile" tumber? That's the only thing I know of that associates that word with cars. That already exists. Universe 2.0 Ironhide and Ratchet is exactly what you're talking about here (unless you're a stickler for that silver cheveron crest, in which case the Takara version has you covered.) Then Crankcase technically got his own stand-in through the movie line repaints. And First Aid probably will get a toy down the line if Hasbro ever makes a new Defensor team. Not enough room for both. That doesn't quite work, either, since the idea behind IDW G1 Magnus is that the original has been dead for millions of years and was turned into basically an enigmatic figure, his appearance worn by a series of impersonators for Tyrest's purposes. I'd think a more vague alusion like "However, some Autobots and even a few Decepticons think there's something more to this to-the-letter legend who has miraculously cheated death more times than Optimus Prime, that maybe there's been more than one of him. That maybe it's just a suit of armor, a pretender hiding the real Transformer inside" would be better. And yeah, I used the G1 Pretenders tagline at the end, but given that's basically what's going on here... Except then that wouldn't be accurate to the comic; I'm almost certain Leader Overlord is going to happen. He's too big a player in IDW to not get one now that Leaders are back as a size class. But the face-ripped off? I'd rather we got something more "actiony" like, say, his giant laser gun. Or a non-transforming Rewind "hostage" figurine/mini-con that can attach to him ('specially if in the end Hasbro just makes Overlord another Megatron retool)
Overlord with a Rewind who can store like a Powermaster on Overlord, doubling as hostage and Powermaster hommage would be awesome And I need a Voyager Rodimus. But a new mold. Not Springer cosplaying as Rodimus.
