Compared to what James usually puts out this is pretty simplisitc. But, as a Spotlight, its characterful, self contained and DOES provide an examination of the character. It's no where near his beast, but its a fun little read

That's a good point actually. I can dig it. Would be nice if they managed to slip in a clarification somewhere.

    Uh...not that weird.

Seekerscream, Seekercracker, and Seekerwarp might disagree.

Yeah, it's not great compared to Roberts' other works, but it's great as a Spotlight.

The art though, ugh. Not so nice.

I agree with the consensus that, yeah it was a good book, but it did seem simplistic and not as filled to the brim with awesomeness as Roberts' other works.

    And the art is weird.

Oh I forgot to mention though.

    Killmaster is my favorite transformer.

    Possibly, favorite fictional character.

i liked how everyone seems so young, energetic, and naive compared to them today. i can see nightbeat became the bot of today by hang out with alpha trion. optimus is more gung-ho, with less forethought. yeay! rack and ruin!

but honestly this issue is unnecessary and actually reads like an un-canon fan fiction. we got a batmobile and the orion pax thing feels shoehorned in, while i would have been happier thinking of the blurr issue to be more of an artist interpretation of orion pax, like ongoing. i don't even know anymore what the reading order is anymore for this pre-war stories.

sounds odd, but i enjoyed barber's book better this week

Heh, almost forgot, but how awesome is it that Alpha Trion's alt-mode is basically Chris Nolan's Batmobile-tumbler? And he still had his cape/cloak in vehicle mode.

But we've seen Impactor transform before. He took down Overlord with his tank mode.

Robers said that he's like to have Alfa Trion on board Lost Light. Oh yes that would be most interesting :D

Also that Orimus and Bludgeon dialogu cracked me up, you could say it made me...uncomfortable :lolol

It was very light and spotlighty but I still enjoyed it. I do share everyone's sentiment about the art, just a little more easy on the eye and I think we could love this comic more wholeheartedly.

I don't think it was a lie about there being something from this comic which will link directly into current events, I just can't put my finger on exactly what it is. its been bugging me since I read it. It could be something like alpha trion and/or metroplex making an appearance or it could be something in this comic so subtle that no-one here has noticed yet and in a few months time we will re-read this comic and suddenly realise how important this event we had assumed insignificant was.

I think it makes sence that Orion and Zeta still get along as he wouldn't have advised blur to save his life otherwise. there are traces of what could become nastiness later as we have the line from him "Bigger, faster, stronger, stronger that's what matters" as well as seeming a little insulted by being called just zeta instead of zeta prime, I know its hard to know for sure the tone of his voice as its a comics and these two together could point to sense of pride and elitism.

Could or couldn't be related to what I was just talking about but did anyone find anything slightly sinister about rung offering Orian Pax those Data pads issued by the functionist council to help him cope with his body swap/transplant? If rung has anything at all to do with the institute I'm going to cry. I think it could be my over-reading shadowplay paranoia coming back to haunt me, that same paranoia that got me making strange theories about the phrase its rung forever and a board member here, dark times indeed

Nah, the Functionists were just in charge back then, Rung's a good bot.

Also I still say it was Rack, Ruin, & Rung!

Meh. This is possible the first time James Roberts has delivered a comic that I thought was just "okay". There were a couple of clever bits, a few good teases, but mostly... pretty dull, a bit silly, a bit slack as far as writing goes. Some nice ideas in there, but the dialogue seemed to be missing Roberts' characteristic sparkle, delivered in some of the bluntest, most overstated ways possible. The art was just serviceable as well... not awful, but not especially good either. I think I went over some of my minor gripes in the preview thread, but in general, this felt rather easy and throwaway.

I like the subtle dig at Bayformers with the "Slicers". I suspect they would have looked even more like movie bots, had the artist been up to it.

"Faceplate would have stopped that." Well, apparently it wouldn't have, since those blades tore right the f*** through the armour everywhere else on your supposedly indestructible new body.

What the... ? Bludgeon programs a shuttle to crash on Iacon, but then Prime "calculates" that it's going to miss, and then it ricochets off a random shuttle and then goes back towards Iacon? Uhhhh... just why? Seems like a lot of unnecessary exposition for a momentary twist.

Alpha Trion continues to work well as a pretentious kook. Interesting little origin story there for Rack 'n Ruin. I chuckled at the implied "bromance" between Prime and Megatron that makes everyone feel a bit uncomfortable. :lol  The bit about the instant transformation thing is a neat idea, but way too telegraphed for such a short story. This issue overall sort of felt like an episode of a kids' show, with just as much impact. It lacked the sharpness and depth I've gotten accustomed to... you've spoiled us, James.

Oh, who the hell is Killmaster?? Is he, like, the most obscure UK Transformers character of all time? I google-imaged "Transformers Killmaster" and didn't return a single damn hit!

    Killmaster - Transformers Wiki

This is all we know about Killmaster. His first and only mention before this story was MTMTE #5.

I'm assuming that he had to write it while also writing issues of MTMTE. If he wasn't writing MTMTE, he would have had more time to plan out a better issue than this.

He also wrote the MTMTE annual at the same time as MTMTE, and that was even longer than this, and it turned out just fine.

Alpha Trion was the best part of the comic.
