The original Marvel Comics series from the 1980s is perfectly suitable (and was intended) for kids and is being reprinted from the beginning in a nice and cheap format.

Amazon.com: Transformers Classics Volume 1

Amazon.com: Transformers Classics Volume 2

Amazon.com: Transformers Classics Volume 3

No no, he asked for a TFW comic.

My sales thread, my feedback as a seller and buyer.

For you, you need Last Stand of the Wreckers.

Then you can follow the ongoing series by IDW. Start be reading the Death of Optimus Prime one-shot, then start reading More than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise from the beginning.

A trade is coming out next month collecting Death of OP and MtMtE 1-5.

Also, you should totally the Marvel stuff (US and UK) which is collected in those TF Classics volumes posted earlier.

If you're already getting the original marvel run for your kid, read that yourself as well! It's a little cheesy by today's standards, but if you're a fan from back in the day it'll be great nostalgia, and the original comics still contain some of the best moments we've seen.

Wreckers and the ongoing are pretty good for teenagers or adults, but they aren't very kid friendly since you have robots being killed in rather gruesome ways.
