Can't wait to read this issue. I'm assuming (based solely on the cover for #5) that Ratchet's going to be taken out of the picture and have Ambulon, Pharma and First Aid, plus Fort Max taken into the ship.

This and the other ongoing have me feeling confused. Is IDW still publishing spotlights or something? Because it seems like they jump around alot between issues and reference points I don't remember reading...

Nope. There's only three ongoing titles these days, one of which takes place in the past and is digital. What they reference is stories like LSOTW and the short "Bullets."

I was shocked when Rodimus asked why Ultra Magnus joined him and he said "I don't know". It doesn't really fit Magnus for him to ever do something and not know why.

I don't think you read the conversation. He says "I don't know anymore" meaning he's having second thoughts. He specifically joined Rodimus in Death of Optimus Prime because he knew the Autobots weren't welcome and didn't feel they could accomplish much just staying there. However as he's taking in recent developements he's questioning if this was such a great idea.

I think it'd be interesting if Roberts did an issue focusing on Magnus. Would be interesting to see his personal thoughts since joining the Lost Light, with such a rag tag crew of 'Bots, many he doesn't really like.

Where? It seems the comic's pretty clear as to who's who.

If it's in the bar on the Lost Light, its Chromedome.

If its anywhere else and he has a little red X painted on his face, its First Aid.

If he looks like First Aid he's First Aid. If he looks like Chromedome he's Chromedome.

Chromedome had a yellow face, visor, pointy eyears on his head, massive shoulders and a brown chest. First Aid is small, red, white, with a blue visor and red head.

Well with Grimlock showing up in issue 6, I wonder how Magnus will react. Should be fun.

    I think that's issue 8, not 6.

And just what is wrong with the name Deadlock? It's been working for the ABC Warriors for nigh on to 32 years now.  Their Deadlock incidentally is also a swordsman and religious mystic robot, though he was always that way instead of a recent convert, and he has actual supernatural powers ...

(sorry, just got my comics yesterday for the last ... 7 weeks ...)

Because it sounds like a name a 90's-era child would think up trying to sound cool.

    Sounds like 90's =/= from 90's.

Uh, no? Unless Bumblebee and Optimus Prime were big radical words in the 90's.

You know what I mean, it's has "dead" in it which so totally RAD dude! And it has LOCK which is TOUGH sounding 'cuz it's like representing chains and stuff and I can't even do it. It's just a stupid name. Plain and simple. Even if it still didn't sound 90's it's a dumb name. "Deadlock" what does that even mean? He locks your... death? His death? He got locked out of death?

Why are we even having this converstation in this thread? I already drpped the issue before, yet people insist on bringing up old nonsense for pointless soapbox comparrisons.

Deadlock means stalemate. A situation where both sides are equally matched and therefore progress is impossible. Actually it's often used more in diplomacy and/or buisness meetings rather than combat.

    ie:

Three of the Decepticons voted to attack, while the Autobots voted for stealth, they would need a 7th vote to break the deadlock.

I didn't notice Skids dropping his gun, but I did notice Powerglide's "WTF?" face. So maybe there's something in that panel I missed. *goes to look again*

I wonder if FirstAid has a face under his helmet? They seem to come and go with this concept from time to time. Sometimes their helmets are their heads, but other times they have humanoid faces underneath (Megatron:Origins). Heck even in this issue, Pipes opened his visor.

(BTW, notice that the Pipes toy/box art has Pipes has a full visor/mask head, but on the animation/comic character model he has eyes and a faceplate. So this comic kinda covered both.)

Here is a handy visual aid for you:

There are all kinds of names like that in Transformers: Grimlock, Trailbreaker, Roadbuster, Bonecrusher (Transformers don't even have bones!), Wreck-Gar, Rippersnapper, Hun-Gurrr, Chainclaw, Tentakil, Horri-Bull, Dreadwind, Darkwing, Skullgrin, Carnivac, Big Daddy, etc. Those all make no sense and/or they were named that way to sound totally cool, grimdark, and awesome!!1!

When you think about it, even "Megatron" sounds a bit lame when you're not familiar with the franchise.

So do all those guys get a pass on their names simply because they're the G1 crew? I mean, people can hate Drift/Deadlock all they want (hell, even a few canon characters think he's annoying), but to rag on his former name like other characters from the G1 era to the present don't also have pointlessly cool and tough, yet nonsensical names is really reaching for something to complain about.

I'm going to take a guess and say that it's probably because you keep responding.

I guess I shouldn't mention that Marvel has had a character named Deathlok since 1974 then, should I? :ev:  He's actually a zombie cyborg soldier who died in 'Nam (I think) and was reanimated in the far flung post-apocalyptic future of 1990. Apparently Marvel was prescient of the 90's name craze.

And I think t-cogs were first mentioned in an episode of the original cartoon.

    Because it's fun.
