That's a really cool idea! It's a lot like Hershel from The Walking Dead, keeping his zombie family in the barn in the hope for a cure (while ignoring the obvious fact that they're decomposing far past the point of ever being able to live again). It makes sense for the sparkeater to have been a regular TF at one time, because other than the tentacles, it looked like a zombie Cybertronian. You would think that if the sparkeater was a crew member that they cared about enough to keep alive that they would have put him out of his misery instead of abandoning him, but maybe their hatred for the Autobots goes that far.

Damn, I really want to know about the original crew of this ship now. There have to be some good stories to tell. Can we have a "Bullets" style extra story about them in the trade?

I think that's likely. Metalhawk seems smart and devious enough to arrange everything so that it works in his favor. Considering that he was greeting everyone as soon as they land and immediately painting the Autobots in a bad light, he could easily have arranged the sale of the booby trapped ship and planned the disaster to help his bid for power. I'll be very suprised if it turns out that the bad ship was just a coincidence, or if the Decepticons were responsible, because the sabotage has Metalhawk's fingerprints all over it...

Red Alert dropped the ball pretty bad on this one, IMHO. He said that he didn't check every room, but as security officer, he should have done a sweep good enough to detect the sparkeater. Judging by the takeoff scene, the Lost Light doesn't look particularly big (not anywhere near Enterprise size, for example), so it shouldn't have been too difficult to give it a fairly thorough check. Especially since Red Alert is supposed to be high-strung and suspicious.

The only problem with that theory is that bots who truly believed that the Knights existed and have the power to save Cybertron probably all signed up with Rodimus in the first place. I could be wrong, but I got the impression that most of the population saw the Lost Light mission as a fool's errand, which is why only 200 out of thousands signed up.

I don't think anyone means anything bad by the comparisons. Most people have a favorite between the two series, but they also agree that both are great reads. It's like comparing two different flavors of cheesecake...even if you like one better than the other, they're both delicious. :)

Yeah, it definitely looked like something that was once Cybertronian. Or at least, maybe the host body was... the Spark-Eater itself might be something different. Maybe the tentacles are part of it, or it's just an energy entity that inhabits a bot's body?

I wonder. I think the problem with Metalhawk is that he really hasn't been given much development. He's an "objector" or whatever... but we have no real sense of his motivations or actual personality.
Yeah... someone that paranoid, with detection systems that advanced really would have AT LEAST checked every room on the ship. I mean, it's not like it was a hidden room or anything. Bad show, Red Alert. Time to stop making

Okay I'm going to sound a little like Kaijuguy but this could be an interesting character arc for him. He's paranoid and the one time he ignores it, shit goes to hell.

Really digging this series. Great time to be a Transformers fan right now. I think the main reason I prefer it slightly over RID is that with RID, I have some basic idea of where it's heading. Autobot vs. Decepticon, with some deaths and returns sure to be mixed in. With MTMTE, I have no freaking idea what's going to happen next month, whether their quest will be realized, or what effect it would have on the larger Transformers story even if it is realized. So much unpredictability in the best way possible.

Finally got to pick this up today, managed to snag the last one in there as well.

I had a feeling after reading the second issue Ore might've had something to do with Prowl.
Shock's little eulogy was a nice touch, and made me laugh "what a ridiculous way to die" and welding Prowl's hands together, haha.
Loved how in the background Tailgate was still trying to Transform. And then got stuck halfway.
LOL at Cyclonus just dropping Tailgate like that.
Of course Swerve found the ship's bar, and his nickname being "Shut The Hell Up", haha.
If I were in Skids position I'd do the same, I mean why not act like a maverick badass until your memory comes back? Thought it was funny that he came around to liking the idea of "Skids and Swerve" as well ha.
I love how much disdain Ratchet has for practically everything Drift says.
Whirl is such a dick "I mean, I was ignoring you at first" and in response to almost blowing up half the ship asking "Which half?" haha.
Cyclonus' explanation of the war couldn't have sounded more one sided and in favour of the Decepticons, even if he didn't intend it to.
Rung just can't catch a break can he?
Turbofoxes! I wonder if they fed them Caesium Salami, or Beryllium Baloney?
Rung's special thumb! I wonder if there is no other like it?
"I'm too smart to die!" the Lost Light sure has some massive egos on-board.
Poor Rung (again), he just got his arm re-attached and now he's almost getting both pulled off by Rodimus using him as bait.
Thought it was pretty cool how they dealt with the Sparkeater, just shove it in the generator.
Magnus tries to be the voice of reason, and falls on deaf ears naturally.
You sure about that, Tailgate? Looking forward to seeing what the crews reactions to him wanting to be a Decepticon will be.

All in all another great issue, I still can't get over how good this comic is, I've said it before but I couldn't have picked a better time to start reading Transformers comics.
    #4 can't come soon enough!

True... I mean, seriously. Poor guy.

Personally I don't think it does. It's a bit of a different case, given the Dweller's victims would return to their normal selves after a shot of Energon. In this case, the victims die :p

    Nice observation though :)

FWIW I am okay with the possibility of Chromedome and Rewind having a serious
personal relationship. Look at it this way (if you will) I have friends of both genders
I love dearly. I am just not physically attracted to them. They are still my friends,
I still love them dearly. I guess what I am getting at maybe a little poorly, is that
since cybertronians do not reproduce through direct means, they have no "instinctive"
concept of gender dimorphism to base gender based relationships on .

The latest ep of TF Prime had Bulkhead drop a line about his love for his friend
Wheeljack. It didn't seem "taboo" or presented as anything unusual to the characters.
Sometimes you care about your friends and family more than alien (human) social
doctrine. That and most veterans do develope love of their battle brothers and
    sisters.

With Chromedome and Rewind, if they were shown holding hands or the like,
I would be even more impressed with the writing of this series. Especially if they did
not make a big deal of it within the story or to the audience.

Bite your tounge rookie! Some of us are old enough to remember the end of the Marvel run!

(when a firefight on Cybertron altered the comic timeline from the Movie timeline by bringing Unicron to Cybertron a decade earlier)

The waiting is the worst part, isn't it?

And a Generations Whirl. And Brainstorm, Rung, Chromedome, Rewind, Tailgate... Hell, we need them all.

Hasbro. You love us, right? Please make these happen!
