Not to disrupt them and cause continuity errors in those stories, but more to correct the events of those other continuities. Think Marvel's Exiles comic.

Also, some characters from those other continuities would join the Lost Light crew and some characters of the Lost Light crew would be left behind in those other continuities.

So, Trailbreaker disappeared from the 80s cartoon after the episode Masquerade with no explanation given. Why? We would learn that shortly afterwards, the Lost Light crew arrived and convinced him to join them on their travels since they have need of his forcefield capabilities.

Could work, has long has its a continuation of their original (and very neglected) mission, e.g. finding the Knights of Cybertron.

Dimension hop? No; although, I suspect that particular story is coming anyway.

Personally, I'd like them to encounter an older civilization of cybertronians that hold a differing opinion of the Knights. I'd like to see ANY progress on finding the knights. Anything!

The one thing I like, and miss, from Furman's run is that there might've been other "Cybertrons" out there. Why couldn't there be other civilizations that have transformers that operate in the same way ours operate. I dunno.

It'd be kind of amusing but it'd get too over complicated and tedious.

I'd be interested if it was smal continuities like the Ladybird stories or Transformers in 3D or the German G1 comics so it would build upon stories.
But i would hate it if it would provide an "ending" for those continuities like Vector Prime did.

As long as it didn't have lasting repercussions and didn't mess with those continuities then I'd be up for reading that.

As a side-spin I'd love it, if when they visited the other continuities the art (except for the IDW Lost Light crew) was drawn in that style and with the looks from that era/continuity. With some fourth-wall breaks in the story too.

So say for example they ended up in the G1 cartoon, someone would notice an animation error and ask people if they noticed Jazz being coloured like Cliffjumper (just a random example, not one that actually happened).

Not necessary. For a while, I thought dimension hopping was a cool idea... now not so much.

Sounds interesting. Don't know it is a series I'd follow as an ongoing, but I'd pick up a few issues/ buy a mini-series of it. As long as it doesn't mess with stuff too much.
Showing what happened between season two and the movie or after the end of the US continuity is one thing, giving the cartoon a permanent ending is something else entirely that wouldn't sit right with me.
A glimpse at Animated season 4 through MTMTE is certainly better than nothing though since a comic continuation doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

Not sure I'd like the Lost Light to do that but I'd be interested if IDW could do a sort of event which would enable TFs from diff continuities to team up against a common threat - I'm a sucker for these sort of things!

Not sure about in universe apperances but I'd love to see characters like Rung and Nautica appear in other forms of media. Even if it's just a cameo or a one episode guest spot.

Well, my idea of it is that it would have lasting repercussions but it wouldn't change what has already been established. Think of how the Marvel UK stories weave themselves in and out of the Marvel US stories focusing on events happening between issues. That's how I envision such a story. Characters who get written out of a continuity with no explanation given originally would be free to exploit as the writer wanted.

Hauler only shows up for a brief moment in the cartoon before disappearing forever. What happens to him? Where does he go? Maybe he goes on to join the crew of the Lost Light and become a new fan favorite character. Of course, Hauler could already be a member of the crew in the IDW continuity but where's the fun in that? Also, some characters we see in the cartoon or Marvel comics could be those from the Lost Light? Swerve and Tailgate only make the briefest of cameos in the cartoon, but what if those two were actually the IDW characters participating in the cartoon continuity on-screen?

Thats the kind of fun I'd like to see.

Given that that universe's Rung said "You kill me you lose" I expect more shenanigans with that universe in particular.

As for other dimension hopping I'm not so sure. I don't want every comic to take place in another universe. At most I'd want them to make just a stand alone comic where every page presents a reality. It could all be a story of Perceptor and Brainstorm wanting to catalog these universes for science and Team Rodimus being convinced to go in search for a dimension to ditch Rodimus. Perhaps one universe has Cybertron and the Galactic Council got along, another where everything was cell-shaded, maybe even one where Rodimus is competent leading the Lost Light. Nothing generic like "What if the Cons won", shattered glass references, or gender swapping.
