Generation 2 + Alignment, no question. For the Marvel US continuity, anyway.

For me, the UK G1 comics go off in another direction.

I voted "Another Time and Place", as there were a lot of things about G2 that irked me... but truthfully, my ideal would be a mixture of a few of these things as well as something new. Still hoping for the definitive end (or continuation!!) one day, though appreciate the odds are pretty much zero now thanks to RG1.

Marvel US + Generation 2 + Alignment because this is how it was created back then. If I was more strict I'd say only Marvel US +Gen 2, no Alignment, as a one official continuity back then.

The rest including UK I may enjoy, but I take them more as alternative universes.

    Gen 2, sans Alignment.

We got an end/resolution to the Great War (that was earned, it didn't just happen), plus promise of bigger battles to come.

Generation 2. No Wreckers. Less Kup. Jhiaxus was great. Megatron was great. Spike wasn't stripped of what made him interesting and turned into a 2nd rate version of a 3rd rate character.

I did like what Regeneration did with Rodimus Prime, Blurr and Bludgeon.

I don't see why Earthforce gets a bubble all of its own. If we assume Earthforce Megatron is some kind of clone/splinter/time-traveller instead of the 'proper' Megatron who gets fused to Ratchet in the US books, there's no reason why Earthforce can't be set contemporary to the events of 'Matrix Quest'.

Yup. G2 had some issues, but the way the war was resolved was really satisfying.

This. It's obviously a beginning. Look at the name!

But seriously, I wouldn't even acknowledge Alignment if it weren't for official reference books making explicit mention of it. And even then, the fact that it wasn't ever published by a Hasbro-affiliated entity means I would keep it as a separate oddity rather than part of the Marvel G1/G2 continuity.

Promises like that are only a positive if we actually get to see them. We should never be getting them in a series finale. The end of a story should be THE end, with every single thread wrapped up with a bow.

I'm torn on that point. I agree that can be satisfying in fiction. Life never works like that, though, so a perfect, "everybody lived happily ever after" ending can feel very artificial.

    And besides... it never ends.

But why would it be a desirable trait for Transformers, of all things, to emulate real life on such a cynical matter? This is fiction. It's artificial by nature. It doesn't need to be a happy ending (although I would obviously prefer that), but it should be an ending, with all the finality the word implies.

Except it's not going to end. It continues. Either into Beast Wars or into something else.
