Well, then. Skids caught Brainstorm in an eternal cliffhanger, lmao. He took Quark straight to the grave, cold blooded. Poor Skids, though.

What if there's a counter-mutiny going on in the Lost Light while all of this is happening? I want to know what's going on over there. Ya know. The charismatic villain of the story.

    Edit:
Also, iTunes has #53 as the #54 issue????

Aw, Skids :(  I love the whole cast, but ever since his introduction back in #2 and his antics in #3 he's been one of my favourites. And then Nautica holding his corpse... I'm not crying you are!

Some really cool moments in this one, although it didn't half feel short.
I'm so happy Rodimus finally did The Thing again! I'd been hoping it might happen soon.
Tailgate's cheesy fight-banter was perfect. I bet the little dork's been saving that one for a while, he probably even said it to most of the other 'Cons he took down, haha.
Megatron's resurgence was awesome, even if it didn't pan out quite the way I'd been imagining it. Still, that panel of him strolling onto the battlefield is so rad.

So there are a few ways I can see those off-panel CHOOMS going:
    • Tarn and Overlord fired but Megs's wormhole mess insides somehow let the shots pass through him (seems the least likely though).
    • Deathsaurus and maybe Nickel fired on Tarn and Overlord because they're sick of their shit. Deathsaurus clearly isn't too happy with where this alliance has gone, and now Tarn's treating his troops in the same way Megatron did that made him abandon the Deceptions in the first place. Something's gotta break sooner rather than later. Nickel seems perfectly fine with the horrific things the DJD do to those they/she deems deserving, she's still a zealot, but after Kaon and now this blatant disregard for innocent (y'know, relatively speaking) Decepticon lives she might be starting to see the monster Tarn really is.
    • Ultra Maximus/Swerve/Rewind, or one of the other unaccounted for Autobots leapt in to save the day (temporarily).
    • Overlord turned on Tarn last second so he can be all "1v1 me Megatron u scrublord" at long last.
    • Defensor... somehow (OK, probably not that one).
Whatever happens, Megatron's face in that penultimate panel isn't one of someone who's resigned himself to his fate. Personally, I'm hoping for a ROTF forest fight level beatdown.

I'm equal parts extremely worried and extremely excited for the conclusion!

    Anyone else notice
Magnus, Rewind, Swerve, Rung, Cyclonus and Tailgate weren't with the return group

    A powerful issue.

Here's a daft thought, "Choom" is Whirl's sound effect, isn't it? Maybe he's gotten stuck in?

Ugh Skids. As Ratchet said, sleep well, soldier. You've done you're kind proud.

Powerful issue, couldn't help but cheer as Megatron picked up his cannon and blew some of Deathsaurus' troops away. I feel bad for Deathsaurus too, since he's obviously not happy about turning his family into fodder. I have a strong feeling Tarn's inner circle is gonna become fractured sooner or later, Nickel didn't seem all that happy either.

Well, Rung is still dossing about the hollow planet with Nightbeat so I doubt he'd be there.

It would be cool to see those guys lay the smack down though.

I think the primary reason that would cause Deathsaurus to betray Tarn/Overlord is because Megatron came out to protect his people, the opposite of, which caused him to leave Megatron in the first place.

Since he sees that Megatron has sympathy/empathy because he is willing to sacrifice himself for his soldiers/crew might be what triggers him.

Would be amazing to see Deathsaurus crew up with Rodimus and then have them take on the LL. crazy >_<

Whilst i was expecting the death, I was NOT expecting to be so bloody upset. But it was satisfying finish for the dude, helping his buds out, even if it was awful for the character. Scum he most definately is not.

    Skids... Rest in peace. :(

    Man, that death totally sucks!

And the placebo, did not see that coming! And what the hell happened that last panel?! I must know!

And we now only have one issue left to see who Tarn is behind the mask, come on Roberts, knock the thing off already!

Up next, the end of the arc, I'm ready.

    Skids' outlier power is
regeneration from death. He will return looking like movie Skids, just wait! :lol

    Lovely issue. :)

    Agh ignoring the spoilers

But guys iTunes gave me #53 under #54's name. Is this a recurring problem for iTunes?

Actually can someone Visitor or Private Message me so I can steer clear of the spoilers?

EDIT: I see James mentioned they're looking into it on Twitter.

A counter-mutiny seems unlikely considering that Roberts says that Getaway in the #50 back-up story was looking back in time from after the events of Dying of the Light, implying he's still in control of the Lost Light by the time everything's said and done.

If you look, when Megs is bowing down on the field, his back gun is pointed right up at Tarn's face.
I would be really surprised if they just kill Megatron right now.

That being said good issue. Like the action, (I am one of those guys that like it when they transform, and hey, we had a whole bunch of that!) Like the art. Solid issue.
If Megs makes it out, he is now truly an Autobot. Risking everything to save the others. In actuality if he makes it out he and soundwave can eventually team up as Autobots... same with Thundercracker.... Ravage... weird.

I have a theory about the power boost I think it is based upon Skids being alive and once he passed it disappeared. The powers were fading away at the same time Skid's spark was.

    What an issue.

Some great observations in this thread. At this point, if Tarn doesn't take the mask off, that's fine. Those of us who care know it can only be Roller. Those who don't care, don't care.

Bit worried about how much can possibly be resolved in the remaining 20 pages. Half expecting something very out of the ordinary to happen that renders everything else moot.

This issue is great because it builds you up for a big fist-pumping moment as Megatron emotionally rejects pacifism.

Sure, he was only a pacifist for a few months anyway, sure, it was to save Ravage and the rest, sure the Fool's Energon was just a placebo anyway, sure he has Ratchet's blessing. Let's have him go out and kick some ass!

    It solves nothing.

While there may be payoff in the next issue we haven't seen, let's look at this one. Storming off to save Ravage probably kills Skids, since Ratchet is screaming for help as he goes. Chalk another one up.

Then, who is he killing with his glorious new shooter? Deathsaurus' troops, and we see his agony as this occurs. Tarn even repositions his own troops out of the way, the ones who are the most dangerous and the most deserving.

Then, even faster than the Outlier upgrade wore off, some little nobody from the colony worlds with a big (sapient) gun snipes his fusion cannon. Because of course she does! Tarn's entire plan was to kill Megatron and by fighting Megatron played right into his hands! Notice his coolness throughout this issue compared with his utter disorientation when Megatron tried to surrender peacefully. Tarn has long been a student who surpassed his master, and arguably Overlord as well. And you think he just happened to go over Ravage?

On top of all that, the fusion cannon that lasted all of five minutes in battle was built out of their only escape plan. Again, while something may happen next issue, right now the disposition of the surviving Autobots has not improved a whit.

The villains win in this issue, and the reader is made emotionally complicit in this victory.

Embracing violence made Megatron lose, because his proteges are better at violence.

You know who wasn't anywhere to be found after the first couple pages? Ultra Maximus, Swerve, and Rewind. I bet that's what the "CHOOM CHOOM CHOOM" is.

I bet the ending chooms are Tarn getting his head blown off so we can never officially confirm who he is.

Oh that would be an excellent troll on Roberts' part. I'd kind of love it if that happens.

I'm trying to think why Ratchet, an ardent atheist, would say "sleep well" to Skids. You'd think he'd use a more... appropriate euphemism. Either skids is dead, or he's gone into some sort of stasis lock. I'm guessing the former, but I'm bothered by the words Ratchet used in that panel.
