Yeah no. I´m gonna call bullshit on what Skywarp did. A single decepticon wiping out all of Beijing? An army of decepticons I will believe, but not just Skywarp, unless he was packing nukes.
Yeah, no way Skywarp, who's not even a heavy hitter, took out Beijing single-handedly. There was nothing relaistic about AHM. I've never liked the idea that humans are totally ineffective against TFs. TFs aren't Gods, they're still made of matter. Alien matter, but in-universe still obeys the laws of physics. Metal melts, armour breaks, circuits fry. Hell, TFs get damaged from punches, debris, and falling, but apparently all manner of human weaponry is totally ineffective against them? No, just... no. I liked the idea briefly adopted in the TF movies that only high heat explosive rounds were even somewhat effective, even though they only managed to actually kill one TF by themselves with no less than a squad of fighter jets and a specially outfitted ground team. Of course that was abandonned ludicrously quick in favour of just all manner of human weaponry being effective against TFs, which is the exact opposite problem. DOTM kinda explained that small arms fire is just a distraction, but still. Humans should be able to defeat TFs, but only with heavy artillery and weapons and exploiting them on a scientific level. Outsmart them rather than just outgun them. And yeah, AHM was incredibly ridiclous and induldged in the fan fantasy of an edgy, ultra-violent-Decepticons-are-unstoppable plot which made no sense and relied on all of humanity being total idiots who can't properly respond to a threat. Just don't have Spike going and killing anymore Decepticons single-handedly with like acid and shit, yeah?
Though his name probably isn't capitalized. It's just that he nature of comics fonts (and his title) always present his name that way. It looks better when you right it down.
Yeah, that is the kind of critisism that is mostly levelled at AHM. But its not the first time something happens off panel in a TF comic, right ? I know we are only shown (roughly) the 84 cast, but i considered it a given that there where thousands of Decepticons around the world working in a coordinated effort, with Mega and Screamer visiting several attacksites alternity taking NY as their HQ. Yes TF's are vulnerable to heat and explosions etc and i fully accept a single one can be taken out in a well coordinated effort like you describe SplitLip, but humanity making a stand against an army of giant mettalic aliens (every one of them a weapon in their own right) with superior technology and at least thousands of years of combatexperience ? No, not a chance. And our scientists just reverse-engineering the entire bio-technological make up of such creatures like its nothing ? Equally ludicrous. Offcourse AHM is a fantasy, the kind of TF story i have always wanted to read. And i'm glad it was written, cause its the kind of TF story that very rarely gets written. It was a welcome deviation from the usual fare.
Lets not forget that organizations like Cobra and M.A.R.S. have cloning (creating shapeshifter Zartan) robotic (developing B.A.T.s) and teleportation (secretly colonizing the moon) technologies so some of humanity have a better fighting chance against TFs.
Might as well post this stuff here. TFormers and Seibertron both have a bunch of new Revolution art that was shown at today's IDW Hasbro panel. Also, if you're interested at all, Newsarama interviewed Aubrey Sitterson on his G.I. Joe run and Revolution. G.I. JOE?s Faces An All-New Foe With REVOLUTION Crossover | Newsarama.com I've never been too interested in G.I. Joe, but I like a lot of the stuff he says about moving them in a more sci-fi direction and away from just being an American paramilitary unit.
Apparently a Transformer is joining the Joes, as well. I can't imagine this is what most GI Joe fans want... it's certainly not what I want as a Transformer fan.
Just what i have been thinking. They have been playing to everybodies ego saying every other franchises fans wantctheir guys to meet your guys. I seriously doubt that. I might be interested in ROM but seriously Hasbro, GI Joe ? You have tried a gazzilion times, i'm sorry but i'm just not into Scarlett
After reading Rom #1 all I can say is those Dire Wraiths work fast and their magic is nightmare fuel.
I'm surprised that isn't part of the line up. That one would have a more interesting toyline and fiction to make over ROM.
I think they thought ROM has some kind of huge resonance because there was a comic about him in the past that's generally fondly remembered. I own every issue of ROM... but I'm a huge dork and don't expect most people to care about the same junk I do. I only really like ROM as a really cheesy 80's Marvel comic...the character itself is not enough for me to go running with money in fist over to IDW begging for a new ROM book.
I remember reading the description for that issue. The prelude has made it quite clear to me what's at the center of all of this, Shockwave's Ore-13.
And according to the Micronauts tie-in, its destroying their universe as well. At least I think that's what it was...
They're linked, but I think the entropy storm in Microspace might be causing the Ore-13 to decay rather than the other way around.
