Will all the MTMTE characters that appear in the Titans Return toyline return to Cybertron since ex-RiD is the comic to advertise whatever the toyline is currently? Even if its just for a short while before returning back to the Lost Light.

And why would Brainstorm, Chromedome, Hardhead, Fortress Maximus and the others give up their heads to become smaller transforming robots or Nebulans?

It will be interesting how close they follow Marvel. If they do have headmasters it will stand to reason that Spike will be Fortress Maximus. The Question why Spike become headmaster component?

Galvertron is at the centre of a lot of current stories so all they have to do is keep him there and update his design to be like the toy

Optimus Prime getting a power master upgrade could be interesting with Optimus currently taking a turn for the pragmatic and war like from his usual pacifist so maybe him being bulkier and having guns sticking out of everywhere could be symbolic of his new ways.

Fortress Maximus makes no sense unless he suddenly gets one hell of an upgrade or ends up turning into a Titan head.

Hope this new toy means we are getting some more mindwipe.

That skullgrin guy is already established as a Decepticon stand up so more of him would be great

Too early to say how or if chromedome and brainstorm will be affected.

I honestly hope it will be only glanced over with some characters being given updated body models.
IDW had enough problems recovering from the Dark Cybertron and Combiner Wars.

I think they can handle Fort Max like they did the Rebirth cartoon, he's on Luna, a veritable Titan graveyard full of parts to put together one massive body.

I think the comics will pick and choose characters for the series that will work, but keep those who are already players as themselves.

Doesn't have to be Spike. Cerebros' head is called the Emissary now. Nothing to do with Spike. Sure its probably due to licensing issues over the name (don't they have a Spike in My Little Pony?) but I really doubt IDW will have Spike involved just because it happened that way back in 1987.

No Galvatronus either in the comics. Thankfully.

Well, Cyclonus and Rodimus didn´t became combiners so there´s no guarantee that will happen in the comics.

Really, that's only because Galvatronus is directly problematic to the way IDW's Cyclonus has been characterized; an old war veteran fighting for the city he lost is not exactly someone you picture violently taking over the minds of other people and forcing them into combining with him.

Plus Galvatron himself hates combiners, so it's a double-whammy of character issues.

As for the rest....well, Fortress Maximus already basically is confirmed to at least become a single Headmaster; there's not much reason to bring Cerebros in with explicit ties to Fortress Maximus if they weren't going to give them a reason to do the traditional Headmaster gig.

As for Brainstorm, Siren and them, I assume they might end up meeting their partners either as set-up to the TR arc or during it. After all, Siren already has a Titan Master confirmed, and Brainstorm's been leaked. There's no way IDW hasn't been notified of this and have started making preparations.

    Galvatron also hates headmasters.

I honestly wouldn't know. What I do know about My Little Pony is that IDW does the comic. I can't draw the Ponies without looking like the Pokémon Ninetales. It one of the few concepts the Headmasters I never did like.

I like IDW approach to Galvatron. Right now it depends really what happens Blackrock in Ex-Rid.

Isn't Galvatron's head Megatron? I really can't see that happening in the comics.

No. Its someone that looks like Megatron but is called Nucleon, presumably unrelated to Action Master Nucleon.

How will Titans Return be done in the comics?

Well, going by previous Hasbro-initiated events, it will be done poorly.

I do think we may see Brainstorm make the jump over into NotRID for the event, considering that all his major plot points have been wrapped up.

I'm guessing that outside of Fortress Maximus getting attached to one of the Titan's on Luna 1, the resurrection of Trypticon, and a few characters popping up a bit more frequently, IDW probably isn't going to go crazy with introducing the headmaster/titan gimmick into the comics.

This isn't the 80's anymore, and while I acknowledge Hasbro can exert a large influence in the comics, I doubt that they are really going to force IDW to make all these established characters cut off their heads at the drop of a hat like in G1. It would be a storytelling disaster, and I really think sales would really suffer.

That said I wouldn't be surprised if one or two nobodies in the comics come out of the metaphorical closet as a headmaster or something like that, and if that happens I hope they stick with the Japanese transtector style of headmasters minus the stupidity of the "cross head on."

Both TF & MLP are Hasbro. I doubt the name being in one will prevent it from being in the other franchise.

If anything, it's likely that they used The Emissary over Spike because A) RiD's 15th is coming up, so what better way to homage it than by combining both Maximuseseses and B) Spike never made any sense as Fortress Maximus's Headmaster anyways.

And I'm expecting them to make an RiD-themed repaint of TW Fortress Maximus because of the upcoming anniversary, if not more than that.

MTMTE recently name dropped Cerebros, so I get the feeling Fort Max might not actually be part of Fort Max. We might get a situation where Cerebros becomes the headmaster of a Titan and that combo isn't really named.

Sentinel will be a headmaster most likely, but I don't really know if any of the established characters will. Making someone a headmaster (the US kind where they get a partner) really dynamically changes their character and isn't something that can be ignored once the event's over. All the same, combining is supposed to be a big deal and the Protectobots pretty much will probably never speak of it again.

Well this is at the top of my head but here's how I imagine it going down.

Shenanigans start when Starscream, Wheeljack, and Windblade just now notice a blip on Metroplex's radar and send a team to investigate near the dead body of Trypticon. A team of little bot's from one of the colonies.

Meanwhile Galvatron arrives on Cybertron seeking a new plot mcguffin with Astrotrain and Soundwave and stumble across another team of little robot men who bow down to the purple tyrant before stumbling upon Trypticon's corpse and some Ore. Because the plot demands it the group plans to resurrect Trypticon and use him to destroy Iacon.

Meanwhile - again - Brainstorm is doing Brainstormy things involving science and teleporters. He accidentally teleports himself and several others to Cybertron because reasons and they follow a signal with them meeting with the Iacon team. Both teams discover the signal is a headless Titan but the moment is interrupted when Mecha Godzilla shows up and proceeds to march towards Iacon.

The Autobots decide to use the headless Titan with Fort Max as the head and upon reaching success the duel of giant headmaster and robot space Godzilla begins with the former winning because reasons. Galvatron retreats, Brainstorm and crew bid farewell to their headmasters, and everyone learns an important lesson.

NOT A SINGLE FUCK WAS GIVEN THAT DAY.
