So I have a preorder up for the white Prime and his limb-bots because I thought I read somewhere on the forums that he did indeed show up in the comics as white--although without explanation. Like he was red in one book and then suddenly white the next. While watching Peaugh's review video of the limbs however he stated that Prime is never white in the comics. So which is it? Should I cancel my white Prime preorder and just pick up the red instead as Optimus Maximus from the comics?

 

The first time he appears (last page of CW part 4), he basically just looks like the red Prime plus the wave 4 limbs. In the next issue, it looks like they made his combiner head white to match the combiner head on Battle Core Optimus, but the rest of his body is still red and blue.

Basically, its up to your preference.

 

Weird. I suppose I'll just stick with the white I guess since I don't have a white Prime and I'd rather a red and blue in a better mold (I don't have too big of a collection like some). Kind of wish they'd been more consistent with the comics though, like giving Galvatronus an appearance. Would've helped with justifying picking up extra limbs. As is...meh...

 

I was looking up info on Optimus Maximus in the comics and was having finding pictures. I was wondering though if in the comics the same bots that Hasbro advertises as arms and legs are the same? Sunstreaker and Mirage as arms and other two as legs?

 

Suntreaker and Prowl were the arms and Ironhide and Mirage were the legs, but none of the four really had any visible altmode kibble.

Unfortunately the issues that OpMax appeared in were not illustrated by folks who specialize in really clearly-drawn beauty panels of robots. He only really showed up in action panels and he didn't appear to have a finalized character model.

I'm not bothering with White OP myself, it's just not a strong enough reference/homage to anything in particular. Red OP looks STRONG with the '84 bots hanging on.

Yeah, in Part 5 Optimus Maximus is coloured like somebody took the Battle Core Optimus figure and swapped the red parts from regular Optimus onto it.

I have one toy optimus prime but did find dragstrip
