I can't decide if I should buy Hasbro or Takara's Combiner War Superion. Is Hasbro's version Silverbolt and Superion accurate? Takara's G1 accurate Superion looks pretty damn good and tempting to buy.

    Hasbro's is comic-accurate, Takara's is cartoon-accurate.

Thanks. Looks accurate in plane mode. I was looking for his pics in robot mode.

Unfortunately any pics of his new robot mode in the comics have been drawn by Ramondelli, therefore accuracy to anything isn't expected because his art is a mess. I also haven't got any of the comics that feature his robot mode because I refuse to pay for his artwork.

It helps to know what you're talking about before going off on a pointless tirade.

Silverbolt hasn't been drawn in his "Combiner Wars" robot mode; in fact, none of the Aerialbots have, since Superion has yet to turn into his component parts since the event started.

Yeah. I think the last time we saw them in robot mode separated was before even dark cybertron, which was two years ago.

I think the last time, not counting the brief CW appearance there, was when we saw the march into the wilderness.

They got turned into Superion, were offpage for awhile, then showed up in the City on Fire, got badly damaged, then spent Dark Cybertron and the following time in medbay. When they finally got out, it was time for Combiners Wars where they got sent into action and combination almost immediately.

You are special aren't you? ;)

To the topic creator; the Hasbro versions of the toys [with the exception of Powerglide] are accurate to the comics. The robot modes are so far relatively close to how they were depicted back in...RID 3?

Good question. He and Cosmos are both much larger in the IDW-verse.

You'll probably want to go with Hasbro ones for a few reasons:

    1) The comics have Alpha Bravo in the mix
    2) The comics are designed to sell the Hasbro toys and thus that is what they're going for (even if the artists sometimes make errors/take liberties
    3) The combiner hands are black in the comic, unlike Takara's which goes for white

There's nothing special about not wanting to support bad artwork. If you like it, by all means give money, but for me I prefer to give it to artists who actually deserve to work for IDW because I can actually enjoy the story and not get distracted by how awful every single panel looks.

Even in this very thread the example of his work is murky, dark, lifeless and terrible.

This is actually a (rare) example of Ramondelli getting something sort of right. Powerglide has shrunk since his giant MTMTE days, but he and Blackjack are both normal sized now in the comics- they simply don't grow when they combine like the rest of their teams.

Actually I have to agree with his work being terrible.

Oh god, yes. I'd love to have him return. I don't get the hate he got back during the -TION days. I remember a lot of people comparing his stuff to Gundam and the like. Made no sense to me.
