I got an error getting this in app from Comixology, but it downloads fine from the website. So this was kind of fun with cool action scenes and new characters, but that's about it for me. A lot of it hinges on what Spoiler Drift decides to do now, because if he goes nah, I'm still not going back, it will feel a bit pointless. Curious about the Spoiler "This issue’s fallout will impact TRANSFORMERS comics for years to come!" preview line, because unless Gigatron gets out alive and turns into an actual threat, I don't see how. Oh and I did like the art and it stayed consistent throughout, which gets extra points.
Im having problems too with Comixology it just says unavailable on my Kindle Im annoyed too that 38 for both series got pushed back again they better hurry up with Combiner Wars then I hate that it keeps getting delayed.
Glad I'm not the only one. I was getting seriously worried that my tablet was acting up. Better go boot up my PC, then.
Well I assume we can remove Gigatron from the list of potential POPs. Him got bitchslapped. Yeah...yeah. As an issue, it was all rather anti-climactic wasn't it? the action wasn't great, the story wasn't great, character...wasn't great. Even the art this issue... There's just very little too this. Gigatron and Hellbat are massively underwhelming villains, the fastball special was done in MTMTE and done better, the army was a weak plot device. Grit doesn't even get a proper resolution. And if this issue has any fallout, it wasn't clear. Drift narrates without personality or purpose...I am actually so disappointed I don't want to give a proper critique of this issue or series I enjoyed the first two issues but this series devolved into all the problems of SPL: Drift and the Drift mini and actually ended up as the weaker of the three. Yeah. Poor performance, I have to say. But hey, sounds like Drift is back on the LL so we'll see how James handles him post-autobot. Plus Drift and Megs? Fun times ahead. Also, if Grit can be re-visited by John or James that'd be great. Issue rating: 1.5/5 Series rating: 2/5. Two fun 3/5 issues can't balance out how weak the next two issues are.
A terrible ending to a terrible miniseries. Two potentially good villains - Gigatron and Hellbat - were completely and utterly wasted with paper-thin, totally nonsensical motivations that even G1 cartoon Megatron would facepalm at. Even the art wasn't good, and Guido's stuff is usually top notch! But it was seriously like Rojo-tier in this issue. The only good thing about this is that it looks like Drift is going back to the LL now - and therefore back in the hands of a far more capable writer.
Aw, mate! Can you imagine his return to the LL. I'm actually smiling at the thought of it. Swerve will have to dig out the Welcome Aboard(Thunderclash,Optimu, Orion Pax) Drift! Banner
This book had a strong start, and I'd say had some good moments, but overall it fell flat. It just didn't have a good resolution, and Gigatron was pretty much background noise. I'd also like to mirror some of the criticism of the art, It just looked rushed as all hell.
There have been some complaints about how this tends to happen to Japanese leader characters in the western fiction. Overlord is the exception, but his personality is completly different, and he did have a European toy release.
Not to be a petty twat, but I really want Drift to show back up on the LL, Rodimus asks him what he has been up to, and Drift to answer "Just out wasting time." or "nothing, really."
OK. Just finished this issue of Wolverine: Origins. It was kind of meh as most of these issues revolving around Weapon X, Omega Red sucked a bit. Sabretooth was kind of cool, but is he really dead now? And why did everyone look like robots? As if this was a Transformers comic somehow.
From the reading of the comments, Drift once again disappoints. Seriously though, I was hoping Gigatron would make a better contender for the Decepticon Power Vacuum.
If anyone is still having issues with the Comixology app, I've been advised to log out of Comixology AND apple ID, reboot my iPad and try again. Haven't actually tried it.
"That's pretty stupid." "You're pretty stupid." This is actual McCarthy dialogue between Drift and Ratchet.
Good thing I value my own opinion over theirs. It also pays off not having the same premature bias that most have with this author. It felt more like a witch hunt than a honest warning. No it's not Jame Roberts work and for me it didn't have to be. I'm actually more critical of Barbers work because I expect more from an Ongoing tittle than a small mini series. And overall this felt like a little filler episode that further opens up the IDW-verse. Sure it could've been better but I didn't hate every issue while still managing to keep reading/buying it like the majority here (which really makes no sense when you think about it). Overall it was 6 out 10 for me.
"Most people are prematurely judging this book based on the author, who doesn't deserve the flak he gets." "Most people kept buying and reading the comic despite hating it." Make up your mind, please?
