Would the comics benefit from a new all female combiner?

    Oh, you were serious...

Yeah, nobody is asking for badly written characters at all. Insinuating anything else is nothing more than an attempt to sensationalize an issue that doesn't need sensationalized.

No, the comics would not benefit having a female combiner team.

Instead, having more females more frequently other than Arcee, would benefit the comics.

I think it would add "more stories" to the existing franchise.

It'd be nice to have more than 1 fembots per location (Earth, Cybertron, Lost Light) and Chromia doesn't count on Cybertron since she's gotten no screentime since the whole twist.

I did point out in brackets that I know that isn't the case. No one wants badly written characters. It just feels odd to tag on the "if they're well written" part since Hasbro has a history of releasing character after character that will be lucky to have a personality that goes beyond "shoots things". And we still buy them. It's like a little hopeful mantra we repeat to ourself.

Ah! That is a much better way to look at it and sort of makes sense given the Chromia reveal. I know a lot of people were upset by that because it was dumb and damaged one of the few female based relationships that we had.

Same with Arcee. Her introduction was handled very pòorly abd we're still paying for it now.

Count me in for an all-Caminan combiner. There is some great storytelling potential in that scenario.

Re: gender on the toys, while some are bemoaning the presence of female physiques/proportions on characters, I think it offers an awesome chance to design around that aesthetic, which isn't considered nearly often enough. Consider Prime Arcee against Animated Prowl or Generations Wreck-Gar - the more slender feminine form offers a completely different transformation scheme, alt mode shape, etc that makes the toy more unique and appealing. Same story for Windblade, as compared to other jet characters whose more muscular proportions clearly limit transformation options (such as Prime Dreadwing).

Not sure whether the comics as a whole would benefit, but the characters would certainly have their cycles synced up by becoming a merge team.

She's recovered well, Arcee's been pretty interesting throughout RiD.

Yup, and it only took 7 years to get her to this point.

Am I the only one who does not care too much one way or another about this, but rather thinks that it's a fucking weird issue from the get go? Seriously, why is this the time and place to make a stand, it just seems so...random? Hasbro just dedicated an entire wave to female transformers, they're clearly at least trying to diversify.
