Love the quality of your boxes!!

Do you have this collection on display, or is it mostly in storage?

I ask because I've always wanted to display the boxes, but fear the amount of space required for a large collection...

Thanks! I always try to find the cleanest boxes I can for certain figures. Some could be nicer, but they're all great to look at.

I actually have all of them on display. It might seem expensive for boxes, but I buy acrylic display cases for each and every one of them. It's a great way to protect them and show them off at the same time. It definitely takes up space, though. Here's a sample pic of one of my shelves.

BTW, though I haven't posted, I've been checking out the updates on your collection thread in recent weeks. It's coming along nicely and the room looks great! I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're finished.

I mean, you really do have an amazing collection!

I wrestled back in my early years of collecting to go MIB or loose. I often get the same question from friends about why I don't have the boxes.

I eventually decided that Transformers (being so kinesthetic in nature) were appropriate for a loose collection, plus the space concern if I ever wanted to display a complete 84-90 lineup.

I always admire the collections with nice boxes, as there is some true charm and nostalgia to the art

That's what draws me to the hobby more than anything...the initial packaging and box art. There's nothing like it today.

khopson I am glad to see how much you appreciate the G1 Transformers artwork on their boxes. They really are works of art. I had the very first Transformers poster ever back in 1984 taped to my wall. I could stare at it for hours. It was passed out at the gate at Universal Studios California when you walked in. It is the one drawn by GM Eggleston. It has Optimus Prime holding his rifle in the air with a giant Decepticon symbol behind him. Greatest poster ever! It personified G1 to me.

I know the poster you're referring to. It's pretty iconic, and I can see why it would personify G1 to you.

Here's my latest addition. It's probably the weakest box in my collection with regard to condition, but it's still really nice. Despite the creasing, the window is super clear and the colors are sharp, so it looks even better in person. It's nearly impossible to find vintage Gnaw boxes in pristine condition, so I'm happy with it.

You can just consider the name on the box as instructions for its care :p

A couple more. I'm not sure what the second one is. It's obviously Bonecrusher, but it seems to be an old 80s KO or something. I'm still trying to figure it out, and I'm checking into various sources to see if they can shed some light on it.

A rarer "TM" Megatron box (Milton Bradley European variant) to match my Soundwave box.
